AiRpollUtiOn 0 #1 April 1, 2005 When my girlfriend sent someone an e-mail to inquire on buying a main chute here on DZ.com, she got a reply that looked like a hate-mail because she asked the guy for his personal bank account number. Here in Europe no-one can pull any stunts when they have my personal bank account number. For international transactions to your account you get an IBAN-number (international bank account number) and a bank identification code (BIC) with these data and your name and adress I can get money from my account to your account, but there isn't a way in hell that I can retract money from your account. What kind of personal accounts do you have??? I suspect that with your personal number and maybe name and adress I can get money out of your account. (there must be a reason why she gets e-mail saying "how f@#$% stupid do you think I am?") Any reply would be helpful because not knowing how you have to go about your banking makes it difficult for us to buy a second-hand chute from the Statez! Follow-up question: what is the best way to make a Europe to USA transaction for let's say a parachute found in the classifieds on DZ.com?"Don't make me come down there" - God. ChrisL 2 #2 April 1, 2005 Perhaps that person (the nasty one) was being paranoid. There is a big problem of identity theft in the US (I dont know if this is common overseas) and people are guarding their personal and financial information very carefully and tend to be immediately suspicious of anyone trying to aquire that type of information. However, I do not believe that someone can just take a persons account number and extract money from their account with only that information. If it were that simple, I'd be at risk from everyone I ever wrote a check to.__ My mighty steed

AiRpollUtiOn 0 #5 April 1, 2005 So instead of that everyone rather pays companies like VISA or Pay-pal??? Is it possible for me to send money from my account in Holland to your account in the States anyway? And what kind of information would I need? AiRpollUtiOn 0 #6 April 1, 2005 QuoteI would never give my bank account number to someone off the net. 0 chance of that. Here you go: 18.52.13.650 I'm not shitting you, that's my bank account number, and I can post it because the way it's set up here no-one can do anything with this information. (actually the only thing you can do is send me money, I don't mind that...) Tell me why you are scared to give it to anyone, what is the cause for that??? Understanding this would make it a lot easier to talk to a potential seller about the finance, because up to now we have been on the verge of buying a second-hand sabre 4 times here, everything settled, shipping covered, great deal untill payment comes up. I have money, you have a parachute I want, Fed-ex will be happy to bring the parachute to me, there's a whole online community here to speak to when you don't send me what you promissed, and I really want to pay you for your stuff, there's only one problem in this equasion! This frustrates the hell out of me!"Don't make me come down there" - God. Brains 2 #7 April 1, 2005 Tell the person that you want to WIRE TRANSFER money to his account and get a ROUTING NUMBER from his bank and his name. It should be very simple. I think it is more the terminology differences between here and there. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

A routing # is the "passcode" for lack of a better word that will be needed to complete the transfer. Edit for spelling. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. AiRpollUtiOn 0 #12 April 1, 2005 See but that's a giant hassle for me, because I don't know anything about that! See the account number that's allready posted here has everything I need to pay and receive money here in Europe. I just want a way so I can go to my bank and say: send XXX USD or EURO or roebels to this number, have them type it in with the serious face they always pull and be done with it. Once my money is gone I can't get it back, so I have to be sure it goes to the right place."Don't make me come down there" - God. What kind of info do I need for these wire transfers? By the way, I was just talking to my girlfriend and apparently when she does some internet-searching for potential sellers she gets tons of pages offering personal info on people for money, what is that all about???"Don't make me come down there" - God. AiRpollUtiOn 0 #22 April 6, 2005 Is there anything that can go wrong when I use Western Union (except when the seller gets my money and suddenly decides to hang on to his canopy anyway...)???? I was just checking the website, this is what I understood: I get cash to a Western Union place near here, fill out the form, seller goes to Western Union and picks up cash, filling out a receiving form and having his-her identity checked. Sounds pretty good, though expensive but that's another issue. Any thoughts?"Don't make me come down there" - God.
