freeflir29 0 #9 April 7, 2005 Every time I have any sort of lay off I do A LOT of visualization prior to the jump. It works........period. Visualize everything.......start with checking your gear. Pins good, harness in good condition, gear up, everything adjusted properly, ride to alti, last minute gear adjustments before climb out, climb out and exit, take a deep breath, do what you need to do in free fall. Visualize your moves while remembering to stay relaxed. Dump........Oh crap.......malfunction. Emergency procedures.......Oh look at that nice reserve. Stuff handles in jump suit. Unstow brakes and practice flare. Set up pattern and land with a perfectly timed flare and tip toe landing. I do at least a quick version of this EVERY time I jump. That way I know my brain is prepared for what I am about to do. I just "practiced" it so it makes it SO much easier and in the case of a malfunction I don't have to "think" about what to do. I just do it because my subconcious is already two steps ahead of my concious mind. Try it......it'll make your jump go MUCH smoother.
 jimmytavino 16 #10 April 7, 2005 only maybe, spend some time tonight doing that.....especially if things might get hectic in the morning...or whenever you arrive at the DZ.. ...You will be so busy saying hello to people and smiling and getting into the activity of the day.......and then,, before you know it.. you'll be boarding... Then of course, as windcatcher points out... use the time of the climb,, for your most recent visualization and not your first.. so have a nice dinner,, then heck.... don your gear,, re-familiarize yourself with it.... walk through your exit... even lay on the carpet and skydive ..... If you like you can look reach pull and throw.. your pilot chute ,,,, then re pack it..... good practice... But do follow all these good suggestions and do them tonight!!! Then you can get a good sleep, confident in your abilities,,,,,, and when you wake,,, may it be sunny and warm.... Enjoy.. I bet if we all listen hard enoguh we'll be able to hear you yelling " yahoo" !! at the moment your Main canopy opens. !!!! have fun o[:-) jmy
 Jeth 0 #11 April 7, 2005 You know it!! People all the way in CA will hear me yelling WOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!) Yep, I was doing lots of visualizations last night when I was on the stationary bike at the gym. (They were probably like "whats that crazy chick doing over there with her eyes closed and her arms up in the air?! ") I was seeing myself exit, doing turns, and then coming down. I did try to visualize a malfunction, but mostly I just do my "look, grab, peel, pull" practices over and over. I have been doing those all winter, and I will probably do them a million times tomorrow before I go up. Tonight I'll practice more, and I'm going to watch my videos of my good landings and my awesome freefalls. Seeing that smile on my face will remind me why I do this. Thanks, guys! Listen for me yelling tomorrow about noon!! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!!
