I've watched too many Biker Buildoff shows

Forgot to tell you what I did.

I took the badges off the tank (they looked lame), made new handlebars, a new sissybar and a new guard for the radiator so I could run without a fender and not get the radiator damaged.

I can't help it. I saw a bike that was the same year model as mine, looked just like mine so I couldn't take it anymore.:D

Atleast when you do the work yourself and don't go off buying a lot of shit it's really cheap to do stuff. I wasn't kidding when I said it cost me $10 to make those bars and sissybar.:)

Well, since that's the 2nd set of handlebars I made, the first set didn't turn out well at all:$ and the second sissy bar I made (the first was made from scrap I had laying around to see if I'd like the look before buying more steel) I have to add all of that time too.

So probably about 10-15hrs of total work spread out over a couple of weeks.

The second (final) set of handlebars I made (the ones on the bike) took me about 30 minutes to make, but I had taken the extra 10 minutes to make a jig for the project then got the angles just right. I was able to tack it all together in the jig then all it was after that was some quick welding to put it all together and a little grinding to smooth out the lines just a bit. Although I left it rough looking overall, I think it looks good that way.B|

This is fun and gives me something to do, since I'm basically marking time right now and waiting to take tests for various police depts I'm just working Wednesday, Friday-Sunday at the DZ. Nevermind that steel is dirt cheap.:)

Dude you are gunna need to put foward controls on that thing if you are gunna have high bars.
It will look to dorky otherwise.
(but it is a jap cruiser):D:D:D:D:D

It does have foward controls, not engine or mid mount. I am going to make new controls and put them forward about another 2" but that's down the list a little ways (basically since I can't figure out how I want to make the pegs, although I know how I want to make the shift and brake pedals and arms. It'll be cool and be out of 1/2" cold rold steel bar...which is about $1 a foot...so It'll cost about $2 :)
That's one of the things I really like about doing all of this. I look at other bikes and parts catalogs and see stuff I like, then I make something similar, how I want it, for a very slight fraction of the cost.

Its a jap cruiser, but its something I could afford. HD's are severely overpriced, and besides if I wanted a vehicle that's made in Mexico I don't have to spend all that money on a HD...I own a Chevy.:D

Looks good Dave..

To go with the HD dealio.. I love the looks, they're deffinetly overpriced. But, they hold their value for along time. So depending on what you buy you could "make money" off selling it in a few years. Just depends.. Seen it happen B|

We rode around today, she says its more comfortable. I bent it at a more reclined angle and she likes it. She also says I don't need to sew up a pad for it (which I was thinking about doing), she says its really comfy without it. Needless to say, she would tell me if it wasn't.:)

Do you do any real distances with Morga on the back? If so what's comfy now may not be in 1 hours time. (Best to make up the pad anyways just in case;))

On occasion. It was last fall that we took a real trip, though...it was about 700miles round trip. That isn't even a "real" trip to some, if its under 1500mi some folks consider it a jaunt.

Well, I'm hoping by the time we're able to take another full trip, she's on her own bike at that point and we can just strap our individual bags to the sissybars and ride together.:)
