Dick

Recommended Posts

My dad and my uncle both go by Dick. It was a normal name when they were growing up (remember the "Dick and Jane" books?) They've heard every joke in the world by now since they are in their 60's, so it doesn't bother them.

I know a newbie skydiver in the UK called Richard Head.

I kid you not.

That wasn't really the point of my thread. I'm wondering why Dick is a nickname for Richard? How did that happen? Ugh, i wonder about the strangest things. :S

I'm thinking the same thing. And also why would someone name their son Peter after.....

A fellow deaf skydiver friend from England's name is Peter Davis... Pretty innocent enough... except his sign name in sign language might be construed as Pee Dick... :D

I was answering this: And why would a guy actually go by the name Dick? ;)

I would be surprised to see a kid these days named Dick. I don't know about the nickname thing. Why is Bob short for Robert? I should just be Rob!
