skycat 0 #27 April 8, 2005 This you can do to save gas. 1) When going to shopping strip park in the middle that way you can walk to all the stores you want to hit without having to drive around the parking lot. 2) Plan your errands wisely, if possible plan them in a loop so you don't have to go back past one of the places you have already been. 3) Bike or walk to run errands on weekends, a good sized backpack can easily hold 2-3 days worth of groceries. 4) Run errands on the way home from work, this will prevent getting home and then having to go out again. 5) Then of course the normal ones, mass transit, car pool, ect...Fly it like you stole it! I cannot afford to go hybrid right now, and 100% elec cars are short range POSs right now.
britboynz 0 #32 April 9, 2005 Yup, no pity for the whiny ass Americans Here in NZ it's NZ$1.30 a litre, $NZ4.92 for a US gallon which converts to US$3.52 When I moved to NZ nearly 5yrs ago, petrol was NZ$0.99 a litre or US$2.67 a gallon. Russ
turtlespeed 226 #33 April 9, 2005 QuoteWith the price of gas going up and up and up, I'm just curious about the prices everyone is paying around the world. Post what City/State or Country you're in and how much gas is per gallon at this moment. For those of you who use the metric system, feel free to post by your measurements and prices. Just filled up the car and it was 41$ US -I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

I filled up at Safeway where if you have a Safeway card.. and spend $50 dollars or more you get $.06 off per gallon. Without card $2.66 /gallon I paid $2.60 and put in $80 That was in Duvall WA just east of Redmond WA east of Seattle in the foothills of the mountains. Jumpervint 0 #37 April 9, 2005 I just gotta tell someone this. On Wednesday, 2:00, I go to an appointment and pass the corner gas station. Unleaded Regular - $2.35.9 Forty minutes later, pass the same station and it's $2.39.9. This morning, two day later, pass by it again and it's jumped to $2.49.9. In two days it's gone up 14 cents. How the heck is that? And I put in the mid-octane in my car, so I'm paying $2.59.9 It's madness, I tell you. Vint. . . . . "Make it hard again." skydiver51 0 #40 April 9, 2005 Tulsa, Oklahoma $2.19 per Gallon. I might add that I drive 213 miles round trip to work every day. The real reason the gas has increased, and it's purely for profit, is because there has not been a new refinery built in 20 yrs. and gas companies aren't going to build any new ones just to lower prices. Stock holders wouldn't allow it!
cbennettjr 0 #41 April 9, 2005 $2.09 yesterday in Delaware when I filled up my Honda (bike...not car). I'm glad I decided not to sell my motorcycle last winter. You ever notice that when the barrel price increases, the pump price gets jacked up immediately? Even if it takes that barrel a month to travel to the US and get refined? If the barrel price goes down...how long does it take for the pump price to lower? If ever... chuck Canis meus id comedit
EDYDO 0 #42 April 9, 2005 $2.15 to $2.25 in South Carolina. I remember a period of lines and rationing. Sometimes the stations just closed for lack of fuel to sell. It was best not to travel because you might not be able to get fuel. I am happy that it is my choice to travel even though it creates some problems. I drive 225 miles a week to/from the DZ. dbac 0 #44 April 9, 2005 £0.879 in London yesterday for a litre of regular unleaded. $6.50ish per gallon. BP and Shell made record profits last year too. approx £8.3 billion and £8.2 billion respectively. Thats £8 300 000 000 or 15,654,174,224.84 USD according to xe.com Now I'm just a simple lad, but if they are making bigger profits than they've ever made before then not all of this price hike on fuel is because of oil increases. Somebody's getting stitched up and ripped off and I've a dreadful feeling it's all of us.

allrightscud 0 #46 April 10, 2005 Personally I don't have a problem with fuel prices. I would like to see them double at least. That way more people couldn't afford to drive and less cars would be on the road. If the increase was in the form of VAT or sales tax then people who have to drive for business reasons would be able to claim it back directly or via their company. Its too easy for people to have and run a car these days and too dificult for me to find parking in Glasgow! Make car ownership pay as you go! I'm also making more money on my BP stock than its costing me with the fuel increase so I'm not complaining about their profits! Too much is never enough! All right scud? DrunkMonkey 0 #47 April 10, 2005 The thing that irks me the most is seeing fat people driving 2 blocks in a Hummer H2 or a Ford Excursion to get a supersized McFatass Meal. Invariably, it's one person in those Urban Assault Vehicles. What a fucking waste. The taxes (gas guzzler) ought to be tripled. You want to ride around in your "sorry 'bout that impotence" vehicle? You pay much more...

allrightscud 0 #50 April 10, 2005 I use shell optimax 98 ron fuel to get a better performance out of my engine. Its usually about 10 pence more than regular fuel. Around the £0.90 a litre mark not sure what that is groats and bushels for the colonials. It costs me £60 to fill my tank, that's $108. I get 250 miles on that. Fortunately all my driving is recreational so no need to waste money on going to work! I'd be pissed off if I had to waste money getting to work. I reasonably happy with the cost of running my car. If I wasn't I'd get something which could run on cheaper fuel and gave a better mileage. Owning a car is a needless luxury and you should be expected to pay for that sort of luxury. Too much is never enough! All right scud?
