boinky 0 #1 April 7, 2005 With the price of gas going up and up and up, I'm just curious about the prices everyone is paying around the world. Post what City/State or Country you're in and how much gas is per gallon at this moment. For those of you who use the metric system, feel free to post by your measurements and prices.Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? NWFlyer 2 #3 April 7, 2005 Seattle area spans two categories. I've seen it as cheap as $2.39 and as much as $2.74 less than 3 miles from each other on the same drive to work. Let's just say *I* pay between $2.25 and $2.50."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. boinky 0 #4 April 7, 2005 I always to forget to post my own answers. I am basically on the south side of Atlanta, Georgia. I've seen gas as high as $2.25, but the average that I've personally paid is $2.19. This is just craziness! I drive a 6-cylinder Mustang and put $15.00 worth of gas in the car yesterday evening and the gauge didn't even register half full. Dazzle 0 #8 April 7, 2005 UK. We have so much tax (80% of pump price ie about 400%) that the change in oil price isn't that much. I think recently with oil going from $25 to $50 pump price has gone from £0.75 to £0.85 (albeit the $ has gone down the toilet in that time)

DeepThought 0 #21 April 8, 2005 In the UK at the moment (in London anyway) I am paying 83p a liter thats $1.56 That is apx $5.90 per US gallon So I have no pitty on any American moaning how cheap there gas is -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it. boinky 0 #22 April 8, 2005 While it might be less of an issue to some, for most of us who live on a budget and are struggling to get by as it is....a 50 cents a gallon increase in the last 3 months is an enormous jump! And the scary part is that they are predicting the prices to jump even higher still! For those who bought one of those gas-guzzling vehicles, it is worse. They are stuck in a vehicle that they probably will find it hard to trade out of, because everyone else is trying to do the same thing. Negative equity and lack of demand makes it hard to trade sometimes. So they are stuck with a gas guzzler AND gas price increases. It sounds silly, but stuff like this can change a person's standard of living.Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? wildblue 7 #24 April 8, 2005 I bought a new(er) car 2 years ago, and one of the factors against the truck I wanted was gas prices were climbing and were going to continue to climb. christoofar 0 #25 April 8, 2005 The world is eating its crow. Everybody's craze to get an SUV is paying off. Everything boils down to economics, and the reasons why you're paying so much is boiled down to three main drivers: - Demand for oil has risen - Supply has been increased, but refining problems have put gas on the short side - Speculators betting that the price of oil will go up, so prices on long term contracts for oil are increasing When demand for oil rises, the cost for producing oil does not go up (that's more or less fixed), so we make countries who have oil MUCH richer as demand pressure increases. ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES!
