funks 1 #1 April 13, 2005 Someone please explain what the deal is with needing to label something NSFW. I dont open ANYTHING if someone can see my computer, labeled or not labeled. Plus, if they can see your computer they can obviously see that you are on dz.com and not doing work anyways so what harm will a little T&A do?
rhino 0 #2 April 13, 2005 Some employers have policy of no sexual or violent content.. Hence the NSFW..

Conundrum 1 #4 April 13, 2005 Some people are allowed to use the internet so long as there is no 'adult' content. Warning people with NSFW is just courtesy imo.

Can the network group see what you are doing if it is just an attachment that you open? I know you can get busted going to a website but what about just opening a picture? Conundrum 1 #7 April 13, 2005 What would it matter if it was a website or just a picture, it would still contain nudity, violence, etc in it, therefore I think both instances warrant a "NSFW" warning.
unformed 0 #8 April 13, 2005 I work in a lab. If someone alks behind me, I can be reading dz.com and actually look like I'm working. If they do catch me, I would probably just get a quick talking to, if at all. If I'm looking at porn, it's a different story. Hence the need for NSFW. Of course, I still look at it at work, but I make sure nobody's around. This ad space for sale.
flyingferret 0 #9 April 13, 2005 The answer is you have more self control and common sense than most people here or on the internet in general. They open it regardless and then complain.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

BillyVance 35 #13 April 13, 2005 Best answer here by Unformed... I was about to say pretty much the same thing. Some companies (large ones) usually have software that tracks what employees view on the Internet. If something in the URL meets the software's criteria to trigger an alarm, such as XXX Porn, Sex, etc... you're fucked. However, for me, I don't bother with the porn stuff, but I do want to be sure nobody's walking by when I've got a NSFW page or picture open. Guest #14 April 13, 2005 There are network admin products that can replay your browser sessions. There are many products that can log all traffic to disk, and be searched later for curse words etc. Best not to browse from work if that's a problem. If you are sure it's only when someone physically sees something when you browse it on your own pc that it's a problem, than NSFW has some worth to you as a reader. In Internet Explorer v6, using Tools > Options > (General tab) > Delete Files will clean out lots of temporary files, but is just the start to a clean pc. You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.
