What's the most you have ever spent on sunglasses?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious. Up until recently, it was $70 on Gargoyles. But I found a pair of Oakleys that I love. The MSRP is $310- but I know a guy who owns a Surf Shop, so I got them for $225. My wife thinks I'm absolutley crazy- but I look at it as an investment. It's something I'm going to use pretty much everyday for years.
So what's the most you have ever spent on sunglasses? And am I nuts? (You don't have to answer the second one ;))

I forgot to add the picture of my new shades- just did it now)

I also spent about 150.00 on my Maui Jim's; but they are soooo worth every penny. I spent 100.00 on my Gatorz. I have also spent about that much for Oakley's and Revo's as well.

I am a sucker for a cool pair of shades... Too bad I break them often... :S

ended up giving them to a buddy of mine a few years later.

Up until my most recent $130 Gatorz...it was my $120 Ray-bans.

I still wear my R-Bs every day and while driving, but when I'm at the dz...the Gz stay on my face....all the time!!! I love that I can jump in them!

The speed with which one sits on their glasses is directly proportional to the amount paid.

I once shelled out $230 for a pair of Oakley Juliets, but they were too heavy for my taste so I returned them.

I'm now on my 2nd pair of Oakley Minutes. I paid about $130 a pair for them and it's the best pair of shades I've ever owned.:)

$130 for my Microscoops. 2nd pair I bought. The first one got knocked off my head last fourth of july by the boom as we were pulling a sailboat into the dock. I saw it fall into the water and spent about a half hour looking for them.

i love these glasses.... i've seen the minutes, and i think i like them too.

i'm considering getting some wiley-x sg-1s for jumping and riding in, since they have replaceable lenses, and i don't like wearing sunglasses on my bike at night ....

$130 ?!! What did you do for Hans... TO Hans to get yours for $130?! Nevermind, don't tell me. I'll have nightmares. Mine were $210 + $20 for the second lenses. Before that, I NEVER paid more than $15. Now I have to look after them like my kids. (In fact, I don't let the kids anywhere near them.) I'd have myself cremated in them one day, but I'm not sure they'd melt.
Once I learn to go head down and get a picture taken I'll have gotten my money's worth. But F*CK it. I look COOL B| on the ground.

Most I've spent is $490.
BUT thats for very high index prescription sunglasses with a very high script. the lenses cost about $200 each.
The most I've paid for Sunnies that I wear with my contacts is about $50.oo and that was $30 too much:D:D:D.

My Sprt Rx Goggles cost me $200:S:S:S

Well my Gatorz aren't as expensive as my Maui Jims. Gatorz were $100 Maui $190

Course I am not pleased that someone lifted 2 pair of Oakleys @ $99.00 each.(damn thieves!)
The Gatorz fit my face better, and are cooler looking but the Mauis have superior lenses and are polarized.B|<---see!!

just ask her how much she spends on shoes ;)

Actually, she doesn't. I know, I know- I'm a lucky guy when it comes to having a wife without a shoe fetish- but there's a trade-off. She's a smoker (trying to quit) But at a pack a day, we're talking $180-$200/month. So I figured my $225 investment wasn't all that bad.
