DrunkMonkey 0 #1 April 18, 2005 ...That forbids people from calling NASCAR a "Sport?" Since when does sitting in the stands sucking down Coors Light, carbon monoxide fumes, and chili dogs, while watching people incessantly turn left constitute a "Sport"?? I'd like to postulate that if you consume more calories than you burn, it's not a "sport"...

Since when is watching any sport a sport? You are confusing spectators with participants. Is football a sport? That doesn’t mean watching football is a sport. Are football, soccer, hockey, basketball and baseball any different? jgarango 0 #5 April 18, 2005 First of all I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I think that you have to check your facts. The temperature inside a race car can reach a lot more than a 100 degrees and the stress on their bodies is really high. Drivers do sweat a lot more than what we do when skydiving. And I agree with Lindsey, if it is just about drinking beer and eating junk food ours wouldn't be a sport either.
kai2k1 0 #6 April 18, 2005 If you can die doing it then its a sport. NASCAR is more involved than going fast and turning left. There's more strategy than meets the eye. Take it from someone who used to be part of a pit crew for a well known Nextel Cup driver now. There's no truer sense of flying than sky diving," Scott Cowan

airdvr 210 #8 April 18, 2005 I don't think he quite gets the physical conditioning involved in driving a racing vehicle...any racing vehicle. Silly NASCAR whuffo! Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
