Hey Renee,
good luck to you, i hope yours turns out like mine did. I don't have any tears in my Rotator cuff. I'll be hoping your s is just a bad strain/sprain as well.:)

I slept during my MRI a few weeks ago. They gave me a head set with some nice music and I was out. But then, I'm the one that can fall asleep even before the plane takes off.

Renee, when they do the MRI on the shoulder, for me they only did the shoulder area. I place my shoulder in a little cup looking thing, so the metal in your knee shouldn't be a problem. I did leave my silver ring on, and I felt some weird stuff happening during the MRI to that finger.

Its my right shoulder. Doc is thinking it might be damage to my AC joint. Doesnt think it fully separated...but that is what the MRI is for...to make sure.

They giving you a Cortizone shot??

Sweet, between us we have a good rt and left arm.:D
He said it was a steroid shot, not sure if it is cortizone or not. He also said mine showed signs of a previous dislocation?:S I haven't ever done that that i know of.:D

It may have popped out and back in :D There is a difference between dislocated and a seperated shoulder. Seperated shoulder is more where the clavical connects in...

this will be interesting to see what they find :D

Good luck with the MRI, eeneR!!

AC joint...oh, how truly fun... I had a level 3 separation of my right AC joint.... took a few hours of surgery to put it back together but I have full ROM and strength...

They gave me several options:

1. Let it stabilize on it's own.
Prognosis: Moderate loss of strength and moderate possibility of dislocation in certain movement ranges. Nasty lump on top of shoulder.

2. Stabilization with removal of the anterior head of the clavicle.
Prognosis: Same drawbacks but w/out the nasty lump on the top of the shoulder

3. Surgical stabilization: Go in and fix everything. Put in a loop and screw to hold the joint together while the ligaments/tendons heal.
Prognosis: Excellent chance for full ROM and no loss of strength.

I did 3...it was definitely worth it.
