jspace 0 #1 January 29, 2009 i'm about ready to get my A license so i'm starting to collect some gear. Aviator for a first helmet?? i've seen a lot of people at the dz wearing them. First RW jumpsuit (tony swoop) booties or no booties? i'm not real interested in rw (atleast right now). i'd rather get into freeflying, but i thought a basic rw suit would be a good start for me. i fall like a rock as is, so more drag is good for me. Blink 1 #2 January 30, 2009 My experience with the aviator is as follows: I've jumped one for about 100 jumps until I bought my fullface. I loved the look, the feel, the audible pockets, but the one thing I hated, what the cheapness of the finish. Everytime I hit my head, the paint would crack, and chip off. Doesn't hurt it structurally, but looks like crap. I think they've since fixed the problem (bad batch of helmets). They actually offered to replace it free of charge, but I just haven't found the time to mail it out. Copied from a topic some time ago, you can read other peoples thoughts: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3301837 Blink P.S. The search function is your friend. taylor.freefall 0 #3 January 30, 2009 I fall fast too, went for the no booties and baggy/ freefly option. Everthing I got second hand from here, all great quality/good stuff. One day, of course, it would be nice to get new gear, but there are some fantastic buys if you keep your eye out.
Dumpster 0 #4 January 30, 2009 Booties are good. You won't go wrong with a Tony suit. Easy Does It
