have they ported the NDS.. oops E directory to *nix yet?

Novell and SUSE merged. NDS will be going into it, Novell will finally be a full OS, and it should hit the market in about 1-2 years. Heard a recent rumor that mozilla will be packaged with it.

I cut my networking teeth on NetWare a looong time ago (when Netware 2.15 and 3.11 was around...anyone remember SHGEN?!) and was one of the youngest CNE's in the UK at the time - I was 17 when I got my CNE :)
Don't knock it Phree - when NDS came out with NetWare 4, directory services was WAY ahead of its time. NDS wasn't perfect, but it Worked and was scalable for large organisations - something that Windows NT 3.1 and NT 4 failed miserably at.

Unfortunately, Novell fell victim to Microsofts marketing machine and their failure to make the console more 'user friendly' ie graphical.

Even today though, there is a large number of NetWare servers still in service - a month or so ago we came across an organisation with a NetWare 4.11 server that has been happily sat there humming away as a file/print/DS server for many many years giving them no problems whatsoever (the company had expanded and they just ran out of disk space) - a testament to the stability and reliability of NW. Reliability is hardly a feather Microsoft can add to its cap :S>:(

PM me if you want to bounce any NW questions of me, more than happy to help.

Russ.
