nshmel 0 #1 January 23, 2009 Hello all, Quick Question. Does the packing data card stay with the container, or reserve? Second, I did not get the card with either the container or the reserve that I bought. (contacted both sellers about it, no luck) How/Where does one obtain a new one? likestojump 3 #2 January 23, 2009 data card stays with the reserve. if it's lost, you really can't replace it - just have a new one made at the next repack. Quote How/Where does one obtain a new one? get a pack of 50 here for $12: http://www.paragear.com/templates/base_template.asp?group=29#S7310 any rigger has a bunch of them
porpoishead 8 #3 January 23, 2009 when your rigger assembles your gear, inspects and packs your reserve, he will likely give you a packing data card....if you want a friend feed any animal Perry Farrell
RiggerLee 61 #4 January 23, 2009 In theroy old cards can be just thrown away. The one exception to that is if it shows compliance with a SB or AD. You might have to have a master rigger sign off mods or SB. Generaly speaking it's good practice to keep them as a record of the gear. You might try to get copyes of them it would probably increase the resale if you could for instance show that there had been no rides on the reserve. JohnRich 4 #5 January 23, 2009 Quote I did not get the card with either the container or the reserve that I bought. That would make me suspicious. It's like buying a used car without an odometer in it to verify the mileage. Find out who the rigger was that repacked it for the previous owner, and contact him. His rigger's logbook should contain entries on when and how often it has been repacked. And he might have personal knowledge of that canopy and how often it has been jumped. Many times I got a used container with the reserve data card still in it, and just as many times I got reserves without data cards. Just one more reason why PD Reserves have a higher percieved value - because they have a data panel on the canopy itself.
RIGGER 0 #7 January 23, 2009 I would try answering all in one post. 1. The card should escort the reserve canopy showing history: repairs, SB's, repacks, deployment, water jumps / washing or any other valid info. 2. Any repairs done on the approved parts of the h/c or SB's on the h/c should be also on the packing data card which in most cases is the same card. 3. Even PD's reserve canopies have the history boxes it should be considered that: * There are "Riggers" that try to "Save" the value of the reserve by NOT marking the boxes for repacks / deployments. * The boxes does NOT show water jumps / washing, repairs / SB's done & by whom. *** PD says in the manual if you have any "questions marks" about the PR history it should be sent to PD for inspection. * there are other reserves which also have packing / deployments limits like Aerodyne's "Smart" , PdF's "Techno", FFE's "Amigo" which does not have the history boxes & the ONLY valid source of info. is the packing card. *** Reserve canopies which reached the mfg. limit must be re-certified by the reserve mfg. 4. It might be wise to have a different card for the h/c it self to have all the info. about the h/c. 5. The rig owner should make a copy or a digital photo of the reserve data card & keep it in case of lost. 6. Myself as a rigger at each repack I take a digital photo of the reserve boxes / label & the packing cards at all sides & keep the info. If the rig owner lost the card I can recover it for him or if the owner went oversea & lost the card when going to a DZ I can e-mail him the card photo if needed. I hope that helps - keep the card & keep the rigs served & SAFE. Be Safe !!!
