leroydb 0 #4 April 24, 2005 not sure what ver of windows you have but XP has a built in firewall that should be able to close off specific ports. I don't use that though. What I do use is zone alarm http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jspLeroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio... labrys 0 #5 April 24, 2005 You need to identify the programs or services that are using those ports, determine if you need to have them, and uninstall them if you don't. ICMP (ping) is normal. op5e 0 #6 April 24, 2005 In zone alarm just up the security setting to high. And then on program just up it to "request access". It is a really powerful program just read through the help. If you are using broadband, most adsl/cable modems will have a nat based firewall so you can put in what ports you want to allow/disallow. PM me if you have any specific question, but I would advise reading the manual first
