Recommendations for tattoo artist in Chicago?

Recommended Posts

jade dragon is a good spot and have known a few to get it done there..Its about 6800 W belmont.

I do have a friend who tattoos, but I dont think she is working at a parlor atm so I wouldn't be able to hook you up. [:/]

there's chicago tattoo located around belmont and clark. I've seen some good work there too.

Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?

Curtis Love of Chicago Tattoo is great, his work is awesome. I have had work done by him(and am going back for more) and so have a number of my friends. You can fax him over your idea and he'll work with it so that you get what you want. Plus he has a great touch so the tat is not too deep, adds to the clarity of the work.

Look for the artist more than the shop. Look at their previous work. And make an appointment with the the one you like the most.

I have had 6 done at the chicago tattoo and a few at a place in Downers Grove. Both are very good. I am not a fan of Jade Dragon.

You get what you pay for, A good tattoo artist will charge 100-250 per hour. If price is your factor you better think twice then you get what you pay for and they do not wash off.

Curtis love did a few of mine...He is great.

Got mine done at Jade Dragon - not bad work, and don't bother trying to get on the Fat Joe list....you will never get your done anytime soon.

I think Jade used to be better than it is now - not too many of the artists have stuck around ...and I've seen an artist there that only had one tat....not a good thing. The guy I picked was covered over most of his body and he did all the work he could reach on his own. If you go to Jade you will pay more because of the name. Mine was about three and a half hours of work and it cost about $425. I haven't seen any bad work from Jade, but I have seen stuff that could have been better.

You may get better work with less distractions at a smaller shop, but only use the ones you get a recomendation for.

Got it off the Chicago Tattoo link. His work just from photos makes me want to go to Chi-town for a tat!

*Disclaimer* I don't have a tattoo, and I will most likely never get one. However, my instructor/friend worked as a tattoo artist (and THE Chicago female piercer for awhile), is covered with them, and hers are absolutely gorgeous.

I can also talk to her more on Tuesday when I see her! :)
