No, that's a silver half-dollar. I can see it working with silver, but the modern composite coins would probably be a bit too hard.

Yep, the newer Clad silver half dollars probably wouldn't work... but there are enough solid silver coins floating around that wouldn't be overly pricy that it would be a cool idea.
