GrumpySmurf 0 #1 April 22, 2005 Figured this had the widest audience. Anyone who has gone through the process of parting with thier beloved rig - how do you go about coming up with a reasonable asking price. I saw a number of rigs in the classifieds similar to what I have - a Jav J3 Oddsy (200 jmps), S2-150 (140 jmps), PD-160R (1 use) and Cypress Exprt (never fired 4 yrs old) - but seems alot of them are still sitting 'for sale'. Does the market for these things start picking up as the summer approaches? What is the typical depreciation formula be for gear in terms of jmps and age? kelel01 1 #2 April 22, 2005 You should sell it for $1,000 . . . to me. Actually, I don't know. Ask your rigger, perhaps? And you might have more luck if you piece it out. If you took credit cards, I'd take your canopies off your hands. No need for a CYPRES or a container, though.

Thanks for the suggestion - never through of doing that. Actually thinking of setting up the PayPal account to be a seller to accomadate anyone who wanted to put it on plastic. cocheese 0 #4 April 22, 2005 I think retail minus one dollar per jump on each componet. Cypres=100 for each year left.?
Remster 30 #5 April 22, 2005 At least TRY to keep the commecial details out of the forums and in a ad... Seriously, the value of a used rig is pretty easy to determine: ist whatever someone is willing to pay! lol. Its very hard to do: there are regional issues (both where you live and what type of gear is local)l the size of the canopies AND of the rig... Post an ad! And make flyers for your local DZs.Remster
skyyhi 0 #6 April 22, 2005 The way to determine the value is just ask the Bytch. . .she is good at this stuff. . .trust me. Of course, if she is reading this post some time today, she will probably let you know anyway. . .but I would PM her just to make sure. . .lol________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
GrumpySmurf 0 #7 April 22, 2005 Why didn't I think of that? I bought the CYPRES from her back in 01. Thanks a mill for the suggestion!`
jumpwally 0 #8 April 22, 2005 I cruise the classifieds often,,,I think that alot of the gear is way over priced.. Some of the stuff is 10-12 years old and people want top dollar for it,,its carazy at that price point ,,,,save for a couple more months and you've got brand new...plus someones great condition is what i would be embarrassed to show...take alook and see if you agree with any of the prices,,its wierd out there....smile, be nice, enjoy life FB # - 1083
GrumpySmurf 0 #9 April 23, 2005 All the items can now be found in the classifieds - thank you one and all for your suggestions.
Remster 30 #10 April 23, 2005 Just as a side note, Risers are normally part of the rig, not the main.Remster
GrumpySmurf 0 #11 April 23, 2005 The rig has the factory risers - the Sabre 2 has a set of RWS risers. BTW - Porsche Mark will no longer be Porsche Mark - just simply Mark - put the car up for sale - love the bike (and it's gas mileage) and can't justify the payment (and insurance) to have the car simply sit in the garage all summer. GrumpySmurf 0 #12 April 26, 2005 CYPRES is sold. Man, talk about anxious buyers for the car - had one guy last night call up and basically say, "I'll buy your car tommorow" - found out from a friend who works at a dealership that the same model with more miles and in worse shape is up for sale for $4K more than what I am asking. DOH!
GrumpySmurf 0 #13 April 27, 2005 S2-150 and PD-160R gone, only the container left.

Agreed! Last I checked, most of the prices there were way out of line, and a fair number seemed to be overt attempts to strip newbies of their money. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!"
