Remster 30 #1 April 28, 2005 Hey Perrisites, how is the ground over there? Dry? have the monsoons stopped? We're thinking about maybe tenting it for our trip there ina couple of days.Remster
Shotgun 1 #2 April 28, 2005 Funny you should ask... It's pouring down rain right now.
Shotgun 1 #3 April 28, 2005 I just had a look at the weather though, and it looks like today is the only day it will be raining in the next week (if they're accurate)... and it's been dry for a little while, so you'll probably be ok.
craichead 0 #4 April 28, 2005 Hehe, when we were there last week, the weather forecast was the complete opposite of reality! When watching the weather reports, we were confused on whether or not Perris was considered valley, desert or just part of the whole "Inland Empire" thing. Anyway, we got two days of sun and two days of rain. _Pm__ "Scared of love, love and aeroplanes...falling out, I said takes no brains." -- Andy Partridge (XTC)
AndyMan 7 #5 April 28, 2005 Tenting at Perris is pretty lame. They don't let you setup on any of the grassy areas, they require you to pitch your tent on gravel. I'm not talking about the rounded pea gravel, either. They put you on the sharp pointy stuff. The tenting area is meters from the runway, so expect to be woken at the butt-crack of dawn in a panic because you think you're about to be shredded by a PT6-27. Otherwise, Facilities are very good. Showers and bathrooms are close. Last weekend, Perris was still getting rain but the ground seems mostly dry, and able to handle the rain without excessive flooding. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. skybytch 273 #7 April 28, 2005 Quote Tenting at Perris is pretty lame. I dunno, it wasn't too bad for the three months I did it. But I didn't pitch my tent in the gravel... I put it just outside the memorial park. A bit longer walk to the facilities, but much quieter and more private.

Shotgun 1 #10 April 28, 2005 The weather in October is usually pretty nice... warm (not hot) during the day, and maybe a little bit chilly at night. The Flyboyz usually have their film festival at the end of Oct. (or is it the first of Nov.???) I'm not sure what else is going on at that time... goose491 0 #12 April 28, 2005 Was going to chime in saying that I'm pitching a tent right now in Ontario, Canada... but then I realised that we are not talking about the same thing. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Last year, it was at the start of Nov. We were in town during the last week of Oct for a big way camp, and they were setting things up for the film festival. Also, it rained like CRAZY just before we got there.... and on the 1st day of the camp.Remster
UntamedDOG 0 #14 April 28, 2005 QuoteI didn't even know there was a memorial park.... Where is it? Don't know either, shit I've been jumping there 2 years and I didn't know about any "memorial park". I suppose if I had bothered to take part in the 2-3 ashdives they do annually there, I would know Don't pitch a tent there. I've seen vagrant families living there. It's kinda wide open and exposed, right next to the muddy parking lot. At night, they run that steel mill factory behind the dropzone and it gets loud so bring earplugs. It's not scenic like Lost Prairie. The bunkhouse is a little better but your stuck with 4 other people. The IHOP is the best choice but they always seem to have some European team crashing out there. They don't like outsiders so you have to play the royal kiss up if you want to make any friends. Dude, just spend the extra cash and get a cheap motel, there are plenty in the area and you will have a better experience.
