I don’t even know who to point my anger at for this one, but I just saw a billboard that read “Who’s the father? - Call 1 800 DNA_TEST”. What the fuck is wrong with this world that we now have to advertise that we are a nation of hedonistic sluts. How am I going to get paid if I don’t know who the father is? - Call 1 800 DNA-TEST.” What has happened to any moral decency left in the world. Hey, I’m all for a good fuck, but this has gone too far. This is not an add for DNA testing, it’s exhibit A in my “Humans are too stupid to live” campaign.

I've seen the billboards and froma marketing standpoint, I don't get it. Billboards advertise to the masses. You're driving and you see a giant Bacardi and coke, think "umm, that looks good" so you go home and make yourself one, or you make a note to buy more rum.

How many people are driving along, pass THAT billboard and think, "Oh yeah, I've been meaning to call someone about that DNA test!" ? Is there that big of a market for DNA testing to determine paternity? Is this really what society has become?

I don't know how to phrase this without pissing off someone so I guess I will go out on a limb here. There is a section of the population that unfortunately has procreated and are unaware of who is the father of their child (or multiple children). With that said who do you actually think is supporting the children of these morons? That's right, you and I with our tax dollars (IMHO very few women with their shit together have a child not knowing who the father is)

I would rather see the two participants that created the child pay the freight rather than our tax dollars.

BTW I wonder how their gonna get the males to come provide a sample to be compared to?

This is what I do for a living. We dont advertise to masses...we advertise to mass niche markets...huge differnece. We pick who the audience to billborads is. Everyone will dirve past it...but it will only catch the atntion of aniche group of people.

For those who have wanted to find out who their daddy is, a billboard sauing 1800 DNA TEST will catch their attention and hopefully make them think about making that call. For others, who the billboard is not targeted at, will just drive past it and have a great day. The fact that it caught someons attention enough to write a post about it means that the billboard has partially done its job.....and that is catch someons attention


edited: addding to say - now that we are discussing the dna testing issue here....there might be one or two people here in the forums who actually sincerely want to know who their daddy is. The post, which was directly influenced by the billboard, can provide new information for those one or two people who really want to know. I think the billboard has been quite succesful so far....


As far as Bacardi and Coke goes....those people who dont dirnk at all will not be affected the the Bacardi and Coke billboard....they wont be able to relate to it since they dont care about alcohol

Reminded me a Russian story/joke about a company that claimed to identify the sex of child at very early stages of pregnancy by urine test. The "doctor" would say you gonna have a boy and then indicate “a girl” in company records and vice versa. An idea was very simple: the probability of success is 50%. Only few of those who were not pleased with the results of prediction would complain and then the company records would indicate that the prediction was correct ....

I also print billboards for a living.

This board is not bad at all!!!!! You should see some of the boards we have printed for major markets... Some very risque which dont bother me so much (actually some of them are really hot), but I dont know how appropriate they are... Some are down right stupid. Some carry paragraph's that no one could possibly read going 70 down the highway.... but the one's that bother me the most are the ones we print for PETA!!! We have actually refused to print a few!!! They can be very nasty and damn near make you puke... I dont need to see a slaughtered animal on a billboard!!!

I don't know, I used to pass that Who's the Father billboard regularly- there is one (or used to be) on I55 on the way out of downtown Chicago. TRUST ME- I don't have any need for that service, but the billboard still catches my eye!

Ummm....maybe it has something to do with the fact that so many fathers don't care to live up to their responsibility to their progeny.

While people want to demonize women who choose to end their pregnancies, they also want to belittle women who expect a father to contribute to their children's welfare.

So saying "Who's the father?" is a bit much, but proving who the father is is sometimes necessary.

Puhleeze all you want, but LOTS of women find themselves in exactly that situation, and I doubt that most women know where who to call for a DNA test or what red tape is involved. I'd imagine that business has picked up as a result of their billboards.

Actually in most states this is very easy, just contact the local district attorney's office.

I think the test will used more by Husbands/boy friends just to make sure there wasn't a switch in the Hopital.

We read a report a couple of years ago that 20% of the dads that think they are Could be a urban legend.

I can understand your anger, but what if the alleged father wished to know if the child is theirs?

I used this service 2 1/2 years ago on my own, I wanted to know if this was indeed my child...

if I hadnt seen an ad like this one, I wouldnt have ever known it could be done without a court order...

It isn't always the woman who doesn't know who the father is. Sometimes, it's the man who is claiming not to be the father, and a DNA test is required to prove that he is. If you're going to have sex, you have to be responsible for the results and need to contribute to the child's care financially, and hopefully emotionally as well. This goes for BOTH parents.

Trav...billboards in Florida have shocked me to say the least. On I75 Southbound, I couldn't count the number of abortion billboards..graphic ones too.

But down here in Ft Lauderdale, we have kuhl ones such as "Booty Beer" and Bail Bond. Most catch my attention regardless.
