Anyway, we are both into Harleys and he has done a tandem when he lived down here. So this morning he has this random story for me on IM: [09:18] NotMe: anyway [09:18] NotMe: i was workin at the firehouse two days ago [09:18] NotMe: and someone hollars [09:19] NotMe: (surprised to see a whiteman on the end of the hollerin) [09:19] NotMe: anyway, he was a guy who lived in that neighborhood in the 50s [09:19] NotMe: now hes retired military and hes been living with relatives in london for 20 years [09:19] NotMe: he was in the 183rd airborne division [09:20] NotMe: which is what division hamburger hill was based on [09:20] NotMe: anyway, he gave me his email address and it was something yadda yadda @ something dropzone [09:20] NotMe: made me think of you [09:21] NotMe: this guy was in the same training camp (same unit even) with jimi hendrix in fort bragg in the 60s although he didnt know him [09:21] NotMe: he met hendrix in london in 1966 before he got big [09:21] NotMe: and thats how he found out he was in the same division [09:21] NotMe: hendrix got injured during a jump and was discharged [09:21] NotMe: i think thats about it [09:22] ME: what was the email ass [09:22] ME: or at least the domain [09:23] NotMe: gablingendropzone [09:23] NotMe: thats the username [09:23] NotMe: i thought it was domain [09:23] NotMe: anyway [09:23] NotMe: its a dropzone in germany [09:23] NotMe: he was stationed there [09:23] NotMe: (very thick german accent) Small world.
