happythoughts 0 #26 May 2, 2005 From the middle of March to the end of Easter boogie, 700 skydivers did 11,000 skydives at Zhills. Some days with over 50 Otter loads. The April big-way camp had 3 teams doing 40-way. I personally knew people from Africa, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Norway, England (and a few more) that return every year for the April big-ways. During the Nov-Feb season, people travel from all over the world to stay at Zhills for 3-6 weeks. People from Zhills also travel around the state/world for a variety of events and competitions. popsjumper 2 #27 May 2, 2005 Quote...No way the ZHills folk, who are all amiable people, will complain if you jump somewhere else for a change of scenery. Agreed. I'm a little surprised that this question even came up in regards to Z-hills. I know TK would never ding anyone for visiting other DZ's. Z-hills is not the DZ referenced by Thanatos and Pyke. That DZ is in Georgia and not FLA.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. peacefuljeffrey 0 #28 May 2, 2005 Quotewhere I live I have three dz's in under an hours drive and several more in unders 2 hrs drive. I consider zhills my home dz, and unless something really off the wall and unforseen happens, I dont see that changing, however, I would like to occasionally goto one of the others in the area, just for shits and giggles. I just wanna make sure this isnt considered a "trader" type act. And I defintily dont wanna piss off anyone at my home dz. It doesn't make you a traitor to go to other DZs. No DZ "owns" you or your business. You are a consumer, and they are companies. If they are run by reasonable people, then those people will understand that all DZs have different things to offer -- different aircraft, scenery, people, facilities, challenges, discipline concentrations. For one DZ to expect that you will always come there and only there to skydive would be, in my opinion, very unreasonable. I got chided for going to Z-Hills for a weekend, but it was in fun, not in earnest. They know, where I jump regularly, that I love them and the place very much. You owe it to no one but yourself, to skydive where you feel comfortable and have a good time. How could you be expected to grow as a skydiver if you simply sat at one DZ and waited for experiences and new people to come your way? What if they never arrived? So go out and jump where you wish. If you have to, articulate to people you deal with the fact that you just wish to see what is around out there. Oh, by the way, my first impulse when you said you have three DZs within an hour drive was, "BEEEYATCH!!" -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Travman 6 #29 May 3, 2005 I have 3 DZ's all about the same distance away, 2-2.5 hours drive. I do plan to go and check out the other 2 DZs sometime. But I still consider Picton my home DZ, plus I love the skyvan there. There were a few guys from another DZ at my DZ on the weekend, one of them was a rel coach. I did a few jumps with them, including my last B-rel and I learned a few extra things as well. So its good to get around and talk to other people at other DZs IMO.
