heidihagen 0 #1 May 3, 2005 i applied @ this firm a month ago. shrugged it off when i didn't hear back... TODAY i get a call from him about a completely different/better position! this NEVER happens to me. however, he misplaced my resume. (i'm not sure how they still had my number, but i don't care) so, i tell him i'll send it right over and hang up. i attached my resume, left the message area empty, and hit sent. what else was there to say? i JUST got off the phone and i couldn't use my typical cover letter... he's seen that! did i just mess up? i felt like i should put something in the white space... "hi" ... or "hire me" ... maybe an emoticon? no really, does anyone know the proper way to handle this one?i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
grue 1 #2 May 3, 2005 Cover sheets... hm.. Resume? Maybe. TPS report? Absolutely. In all seriousness though, I'm sure it'll be fine.cavete terrae.
Remster 30 #3 May 3, 2005 I would send at least some info. Its not too late, you can always claim to be clumsy and send an email saying you hit sent right after creating the attachment, forgetting to type a message! lolRemster
pyke 0 #4 May 3, 2005 You're doing what I do - overanalysing!!! don't worry about it - he's obviously looking out for you - so he wants you. you could have considered adding something like: "Hi XXX, Thanks for your call about the open position. Attached is my resume. I look forward to speaking with you again. Sincerely, XXX" That at least goes into his inbox and grabs his eye....and reminds him about it. Always think about it from his perspective....even though he just talked to you - he's probably making 20 calls today. So, if you set up your email with a bit of a "friendly reminder" message - chances are he'll remember that he a) talked to you, and b) was thinking of you for a particular position. Good luck - I'm going through job hell right now too - so best of luck for us both!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. kelel01 1 #5 May 3, 2005 Add me to that list . . . I'm about to go Milton Wadams up in this biotch. You should be fine without a cover letter, though, based on the circumstances.
rehmwa 2 #6 May 3, 2005 QuoteIts not too late, you can always claim to be clumsy and send an email saying you hit sent right after creating the attachment, forgetting to type a message! lol Don't followup and pretend you messed up and the next one is the 'real' followup, don't even mention it - it's not a big deal, just follow up within a day or two and express interest and, if you know enough about the position, maybe a short note on how you can add value to their business in that position. You can couch it in terms of you wishing to provide the requested document immediately and now you've had time to compose a personal note concerning the specific position and you want to make sure they realize you are interested and capable. You did what you did, you can't unsend. Don't worry, especially if it's HR and not the direct hiring manager. Next time, take a bit (a couple minutes) before hitting send. Perhaps the immediate sending will impress the person with your responsiveness. Perhaps the manager is a compulsive nut and hires based on a stop watch timing to a random task like this one - in that case, you're in. ... heidihagen 0 #7 May 3, 2005 thanks for the advice everyone =) yeah, i probably am overanalysing.... but i really wish i would have typed that before hitting send. good luck with your search too QuoteDon't followup and pretend you messed up and the next one is the 'real' followup, don't even mention it - it's not a big dealoh i didn't! i actually want this position (thanks a lot remster!) Quoteespecially if it's HR and not the direct hiring manager. i spoke to the big guy, not hr (are you kidding!? they can't even get my name right)... but i'm hoping the fast thing you said will impress. and if not, then at least i know what to do in the future. i've never been in that of situation. i swear, i need a list of ep's to follow tailored to interview stuff.i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
