Brains 2 #4 March 14, 2005 From what i gathered, a group of people got together and wanted to start their own society because they were unhappy with the one they were living in. So they bought a piece of property, and raised their children to be afraid of "Those that we don't speak of" Edit to add: And i thought it sucked too. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
Skolls081102 0 #5 March 14, 2005 Yeah, I understood it. It was a great concept for a movie. However, the ending was downright horrible. I respect M Knight (or however you spell his name). He's got one twisted mind. However, his movies have a great buildup....to nothing. The sole intention, is learning to fly.Condition grounded, but determined to try. Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies.Tongue tied and twisted, just an Earth bound misfit. Bouda 0 #6 March 14, 2005 i liked it cause alot of the movies that are coming out nowa days are to perdictable. that one kept me guessing. in the very begining when they had the grave stone i thought it said 1997 or something to that. plus if you noticed that the security guards hat said Walker or what ever the blind girls last name was so i guess they had it set up as a national wildlife thing so no one would bother them plus so they couldn't have anything fly over and see they were there. i am guessing that the whole village was known about by some outsiders but only higher ups in the company that maintained it. and the only reason Ivy was allowed out is due to the fact she was blind and couldn't tell the others what she saw. also but killin Noah she could keep the others believing that the things they didn't speak of were real Look what i made at work today mom!! gjhdiver 0 #11 March 14, 2005 Quotei think i got it but not sure. after a few people post i'll give you my thoughts on it Easy to understand. A typical M. Night Shyalaman movie, where the twist is telegraphed in the first 10 minutes, and the rest of the film is taken up with the actors going humorlessly through the motions whilst trying to avoid falling into plot holes that you could drive a bus through. Like Signs. An alien race allergic to water, travel to a planet almost totally comprised of it, have the technology to cross interstellar distances, but not to kick down a wooden door. Shittiest overpaid director since Tim Burton.

ChasingBlueSky 0 #13 March 14, 2005 QuoteLike Signs. An alien race allergic to water, travel to a planet almost totally comprised of it As are the people. His movies follow to strong of a pattern and have very common themes in all of them. And when everyone is expecting the "shocking twist" in the final reel.....doesn't that take a bit of the edge away? What would shock everyone in his next movie would be no twisted ending._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... KrisFlyZ 0 #14 March 14, 2005 QuoteYeah, I understand it. It sucked! I think MNS concentrated too much on twisting things up but it was entertaining. The blind chick was hot. Kris.

blackdog 0 #16 March 14, 2005 Quotei think i got it but not sure. after a few people post i'll give you my thoughts on it Southpark is better writen(and more interesting and socially aware) than The Village. I believe it must have been simply a contract filler. meaning it was made to simply fulfill a contractual obligation to the studio. The film industry goes on names and star appeal ONLY! I m sure it made money simply from the idea it was a MNS project. I endured the whole movie on a trans-Atl flight last week. After I got over the shock of how horrible it was I watched Dodgeball. Which in comparison was a MASTERPIECE!
Dagny 0 #17 March 14, 2005 I liked the movie! Long story short, a group of people went to great lengths to separate themselves from the monsters present in society, but in doing so become monsters themselves. The real message is what you find when you look between the so called "plot holes". Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic. -Salvador Dali
fireflytx 0 #18 March 14, 2005 I understood it just fine....it sucked! It should have never been pimped like a horror movie."Well behaved women rarely make history"
dgskydive 0 #19 March 14, 2005 Quote i liked it cause alot of the movies that are coming out nowa days are to perdictable. I found it very predictable. Although I did like it. I knew right from the start that they lived in present time. NOt sure what tipped me off but it was to easy. flyingferret 0 #20 March 14, 2005 The lovely thing about the internet is that everyone thinks there opinion is fact without any proof, particularly matters in which an objective answer is impossible. It is funny how wrapped up people get. The village showed some creativity, more than a lot of movies. Of course maybe it should not have been packaged as horror, but then all of M. Night's are. I dont really think it was 'horror' though, that would be cheesy half dressed chickes with chainsaws. It propped as drama with some scary stuff. And of course at a few moments most of us jumped a bit. Better than princess diaries right? Or the forgotten.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. dgskydive 0 #22 March 14, 2005 Quotethey had it set up as a national wildlife thing so no one would bother them plus so they couldn't have anything fly over and see they were there. They weren't worried about being seen. They didn't want the people in the Village to see the planes. Then they have to tell them what planes are and that doesn't fit in to the lie they made up. Geez don't you guys watch the special features at the end of the DVD's?Dom

They didn't buy the property, they moved onto a conservation reserve, where there supposedly was no trespassing. Then when they ran into trouble they sent a BLIND girl for help.
