DJL 235 #26 March 15, 2005 Coincidentally, I watched it last night. What a shitty movie. It was really as if Shamla-ding-dong started every scene with "Ok, rememeber, dead-pan and monotonous; this is your utopia...Take 15 - DEADPAN!" Luckily I had just bought a carpet at home depot so we got to spend the movie talking about how the rug matched the sofa and whether the rug was worse than the movie."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
efs4ever 3 #27 March 15, 2005 I sorta figured the environment would suddenly become "modern world." I was wondering throughout the movie how they would explain away aircraft. In the end it was a poor attempt to dispel plausibility problems. Russell M. Webb D 7014 Attorney at Law 713 385 5676 https://www.tdcparole.com
BlindBrick 0 #28 March 15, 2005 Quoteok, so who saw "Unbreakable" by M.N.S. and what did you think of that one? It was OK if you understand it for what is was supposed to be, the first act of a trilogy. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." Canuck278 0 #32 March 15, 2005 i received an email from a friend of mine after he saw it in the theatre.......although even after reading it i am ashamed to admit i went and rented it on dvd a couple weeks ago...i want my 2 hours of life i wasted watching it back ps, this was the email.... Hello all, if you're on this list it means i respect you, that being said, i hope i have a mild bit of respect on your behalf. that being said, i want you to know that i just got back from seeing The Villiage. I realize you all know that i'm opinionated and go against the grain at times, which is because the grain is for the mindless tools of the world, but either way, that movie is supposed to be scary and i am doing this for your benefit. it is my job to let you know the movie is... a. not scary b. fucking horrible c. thoughtless d. not worth 10 bucks, and finally e. it sucked cock, it was shit, that shamalwhatever the hell is getting rich off idiots like me who are too stupid to realize the only scary movie ever made is the piano, go ahead and see it but remember i called it, your friends who keep bugging you to see it are your enemy and they should take heed from your everlasting considerate friend, Dave J B ps - if you are upset by me expressing my opinion and feel i should keep my thoughts to myself go pay 12 - 15 bucks to go see it, then go home, look yourself in the mirror and say say five times out loud, "I'm A Fucking Idiot"...then you will feel the pain i have just endured. SpeedRacer 1 #34 May 4, 2005 aw man... I kinda figured out what was going on early in the movie, but I STILL really enjoyed it! I never really saw it as a horror movie so much as it was a movie about love & overcoming fear of the unknown. I thought it was a really original story & well done! I think that part of some people's disappointment with it was they were expecting the modern version of what a "horror movie" is supposed to be, ie, things that come out & kill people & scare the shit out of you suddenly with lots of blood etc. The classic version of horror, found in books from the 19th & early 20th century, was more subtle, more psychological, about struggles vs. evil from within human beings. You find it in Poe and Lovecraft and even Hawthorne. You don't find it so much in the typical "horror movie" of today. This film the Village was more like the horror stories I've read from back then. By the way, Shyamalan (or whatever his name was who wrote & directed it) played the newspaper-reading guard at the guardhouse.
