Torrey Pines gliderport in San Diego. Can watch paragliders launch, can watch the whales swim by, and you can check out the nude sunbathers on Black's Beach below. (For novelty value only - in general these are people you don't want to see naked.)

I'm going to have to go there now, Bill, now that both you and Arlo recommended it. That will have to be the next time that I am in San Diego. I don't think that I'll be out that way on the 10th, though. I'm still debating.

You guys can go to the Glider port 1 day. Puerto Nuevo for dinner, and then Jump at SD SD the next day!

Did anyone else notice that I misspelled Vallerina's name in the title? :D I just noticed today!

I swear I need a new keyboard. :S My keys are all stuck together from recently spilling a soft drink all over the keyboard. (No, I wasn't laughing and spitting or anything silly like that.)

Porter Ranch? Hmm. Not much there except the Simi, Feel Me, Touch Me Valley (aka - the "Blue Ghetto" because of all the cops that live there).

You are right over the hill from Malibu. Lots of people like Venice, but I always found it dirty and you've gotta watch out for yourself.

There's the 3rd Street Promenade, which are some of my old stomping grounds.

I would also highly recommend Gia's plan - Long Beach! Shoreline Village is wonderful.

Closer to you would be Universal City Walk - Howl at the Moon is fun, as is BB King's joint.

For some off-the-beaten-path restaurants, Culver City has some nice ones.

My wife is hotter than your wife.

Jerry, you kill me! I'm not exactly living in the ghetto.

Simi Valley? It's is boring as all hell. I would never go there, myself.

I tend to drive all over, and I have never really spent much time here specifically because it's such a quiet, residential area with pretty conservative families for the most part. My boyfriend used to live in Studio City, prior to moving to San Diego, south of Ventura, which is much more lively. I know that area well, so I could always go to a restaurant out that way.

Yes, Malibu is close enough, and I like the nicer parts of Venice, like around where Nick lives. The restaurants are great.

I used to live in Santa Monica within walking distance to the beach. I used to go there when I was younger, but when I lived in Santa Monica, I never really hung out in 3rd Street much because there are so many tourists/non-locals.

Gia may be coming this way for a slumber party...YAY!

I don't like the Universal City Walk...it's much too touristy.

Culver City is actually ghetto-ish to me. :$:D I hate it there...it's mostly businesses and studios. My ex in the radio industry worked/s there.

I think that I am just going to take Val to Hooters...and to Compton...:D:D:D

(Kidding, of course!) :P

:)

No more dangerous than old town Pasadena.
I'd say that Venice is to places like Santa Monica what the East Village is to the Village. Different soul, different people, less watered down. 3rd street promenade though is an outdoor mall, so is Universal City Walk.

Didn't Venice kind of lose it's "edginess" when people like Whoopi Goldberg started moving in there? ;)

By LA standards, it's pretty hardcore. By world cities standard, it pussycat territory. Then again, LA is one big suburb. That's why I have to FO every month...B|

I'll keep that in mind the next time I am having a fruit smoothie on Abbot Kinney...

Chase it with a slice of pineapple pizza.
I meant in the "bohemian" way, smartass!B|
