tylerexpress 0 #1 January 3, 2009 I was wondering what is the difference between a harness that is a C17 and a harness thats a C17-1. Is one larger than the other?Thomas C Tyler AKA T-MAN
captain_stan 0 #2 January 8, 2009 Niether is larger; both have a 17" MLW. The C-17 has it's lateral junction adjacent to the legstrap junction, so you won't see any length of MLW between these points. The C-17-1 has it's lateral junction set 1" higher above the legstrap junction, so you will see 1" of MLW extending vertically between these points. The corresponding difference in fit is very minor if everything else is equal. Sunpath could probably explain to you how they determine this; I expect it has to do with the jumper's girth and the actual container (J#) size. However: Any two Javelin H/C's with the same yoke/MLW size may differ in "lateral" size to accomodate jumpers of different girth. Lateral size isn't listed on the H/C's label, but may be available from Sunpath if you provide the SN to them.
likestojump 3 #3 January 8, 2009 as usual Bill Booth did a good job in his site, and in laymans English the term is called "stagger" and explained here : http://www.unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/Support/Rigging/09116(Stagger).pdf
riggerrob 643 #4 January 8, 2009 "C" refers to the size of the yoke. IOW the distance between the top of the reserve container and the bottom of the 3-Rings. Different sizes of yokes accomodate different sizes of shoulders. For example: "A" sized yokes are built for women with small shoulders. "B" and "C" sized yokes fit average sized men. "D" sized yokes fit the huge shoulders on (Canadian and American) football players and body shoulders. Sun Path/UPT also make yokes one size smaller than "A" and larger than "D." By lifting the attachment point of the lat it can help "lift" or aid in keeping the rig higher on your shoulders. This also helps with wear and tear on the lower back by putting more of the weight on the shoulders. For some it may create a more difficult reach for PC but that is a different story. If one can scratch their armpit they can reach a PC, just have to change the way one reaches. Im 6'1" C19 with a 3" split, love the way it sits higher and rides on my shoulders. Hope that adds a little more info.
