My son the Rock Star

Recommended Posts

My #2 son (I have four) has spent the last 8 years setting up sound equipment for others, playing guitar in bars and coffee shops, and generally living the life of a music bum.

A month ago some scout saw/heard him playing in a bar in Portland, OR, and offered him a role in a movie. They flew him to NYC to record some tracks, and then to Milan, Italy, where the movie is being shot. He's now in Italy recording stuff for the soundtrack and hanging around with movie stars.

That is so cool! What kind of music does he play? What luck, or, he just happened to be in the right spot at the right time, or someone told this scout to go listen to him, and he liked what he heard!

It's good to hear that in this era of instant stardom via American Idol, that hard work and tenacity still pay off. B| What style of music does he play?

Does your son have a name...might be able to find the movie from his name alone... www.imdb.com is really good for finding movies that are in filming and other films that different actors were in...

yes, it's Kallend.:)

Cool, just imagine, he could have become a physics professor or something... :P:P

Not likely.
#1 - software engineer (if you have an internet capable Nokia phone there's a chance he wrote its operating system).
#2 - the "Rock Star"
#3 - Sergeant, US Army (infantry)
#4 - in grad school (classical musician).

That's great!

I'm the son of a pianist who went to school and came out as a music teacher, but then went on to sell insurance for 37 years. Each of us four kids had a bit of music instruction, but it never really took with any of us. I myself did not discover how much I loved music until I was in high school; my appreciation grew through college and afterward, but DUH it never occurred to me to actually start ASAP to learn to PLAY music.

So a few years ago I bought an acoustic guitar but I have not put the necessary time into practicing and lessons yet to be able to do much with it besides practice chord positions and some scales. I do want to be a musician eventually (just amateur). Your son is lucky to have that in his life. Good luck to him.

Blue skies,
