pyke 0 #2 May 11, 2005 I voted "I absolutely hate them"... ESPECIALLY when they're run by spoiled little girls who have nothing better to do all day than gossip and smack their gum!!!! j/k Mariah....or Miranda....or whatever the hell you call yo'self this week!!! I would have let you pack for me, but after making this comment - I know better than that!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. livendive 8 #3 May 11, 2005 I usually prefer individuals who are packing for money to jump with than big concessions. They seem to take time to learn my gear and what kind of openings I prefer and do a better job than professional packers who are all about packs per hour. It's not a 100% kind of thing, some individual-type packers don't have the professionalism or knowledge to ensure rigs are packed well and in a timely manner, and I've used some professionals who were top-notch. It just seems to be a "more often than not" kind of impression. More to the point of your question though, I usually pay someone to pack for me these days. Before I had instructional ratings, packing was how I made money to jump with. I've packed enough rigs, and when I'm off at a boogie I'd rather pay someone else and just relax and enjoy my "vacation" in between jumps. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" chaoskitty 0 #4 May 11, 2005 No thanks. I'll use a packer that I know, or I will pack myself. Would rather not let a stranger pack for me.
KCJumper 0 #5 May 11, 2005 I'm not a fan of using a packer. Don't like others packing my rig really. Just never know what you will get if you don't pack it yourself. That and it saves me money to pack myself. Patrick
gmittar 0 #6 May 11, 2005 I've passed up jumps because I didn't want to have to pack afterwards. I always use a packer. |>.<| Seriously, W.T.F. mate?
Girlfalldown 0 #7 May 11, 2005 QuoteJust wondering What people think. This is not just for the packing place but packing services in general. peace, mk I always pack for myself but I still think it's nice to have the option of a packer that you can count on to get you on the next load. It's also great at boogies when you simply can't find a free packer that you know. It's helped a lot of my friends be able to get on a load with me when they thought they wouldn't have time. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.) DrewEckhardt 0 #20 May 11, 2005 No. Packing for yourself means you're not stuck waiting on a packer that will take time to get to your rig. That means getting on more loads, especially when you're jumping with other people who may or may not be waiting with you.
pacncathyjr 0 #21 May 11, 2005 well I see that and agree with you kinda. the thing about that is that you may not pack as fast as a packing service can pack
kelpdiver 2 #22 May 11, 2005 QuotePacking for yourself means you're not stuck waiting on a packer that will take time to get to your rig. That means getting on more loads, especially when you're jumping with other people who may or may not be waiting with you. I get on more loads when someone else packs. I'm packing for the first load, and if there isn't someone ready to do it. Otherwise, why get tired packing rather than jumping? And then I can spend the time talking more about the jumps. I may get fast enough with time to change that equation, but right now it's not close.
justaflygirl 0 #23 May 11, 2005 I adore the packers at zhills! THEY ROCK!!!!! And I have no problem helping them make a living.... But as far as anywhere else, it totally depends on who it is and the reputation they have earned themselves....
skyyhi 0 #24 May 12, 2005 I have my favorites. . .and when people show up at my DZ, I direct them to my faves. . .but that being said, I do like packing for myself. .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
monkycndo 0 #25 May 12, 2005 I pack for myself. Rather pay to jump then have a packer. I am slow now, but when I start going to boogies, I don't want to have to rely on packers I don't know and still have to wait in line to get my rig. So far my pack jobs on my sabre have given me smooth openings. The only way to get faster at packing is to practice. And did I mention that I am cheap. Monkeyboy50 donations so far. Give it a try.
