Superman32 0 #1 May 13, 2005 Today NY/NJ has been a commuters nightmare (even more than usual) 1) For those that do not live in the area -- a small mudslide/wall colapse on Henry Hudson Parkway - highway just outside of the George Washington Bridge closed the traffic in the area just before the afternoon rush hour, which in turn just overburdened the\ NJ/NY entry points tunnels and bridge. 2) Railroad bridge fire pretty much stopped AMTRAK services in the Newark/NY/Phily. Which resulted in commuters sitting either with no place to go or running around looking for different ways to get home. Those are relatively small events that just cause havoc on the infrastructure of the area. Aren't we supposed to be prepared to deal this type of crap? Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches! Peej 0 #3 May 13, 2005 Apparently they only care about Washington. I read a story in our local papers here last night that a small Cessna flew over the restricted air space over the White House and wouldn't respond to radio calls. So while they scrambled an F16, a Blackhawk and another jet it took them only 6 minutes to evacuate 35000 people from the Pentagon, etc. That's impressive. The fire department deals with fire. As for mudslides, I believe bulldozers will do the job. What do you expect the TSA to do about these that the local authorities can't handle? Do you want soldiers on guard at every bridge and stone wall?
