Nightingale 0 #3 May 15, 2005 For the last two weeks, when I was taking finals, I ended up taking allergy medicine (benadryl or chlor-trimeton) some nights just so I could sleep. When I get stressed, I end up staring at the ceiling all night, and then I get more stressed because I'm tired. I hate insomnia!
rwieder 0 #4 May 15, 2005 it was Albert Einstein's belief that the above average intelligent individual needed only 3-4 hours of sleep per 24 hours. Einstein him self slept 4 hours per 24 hour period. His theory behind all of this gobbledegooc was that the electrical stimuli in the brain would shut down only for short periods of time in the more intelligent people, heck, he may be right. I've never slept more than 4 hours at a time in the last 30 years, not because i'm intelligent, but because of my job. I did a sleep study at St. Joeseph hospital in Bryan/College Station, it revealed what i already knew, i'm an insomniac by nature. There are drugs for this, but i'll have none of it. I'll just live with it. But for those who want/need help, it's there. Do an internet search on sleep disorders/studies. It would seem the more stressful our lives and jobs become, the less sleep we are able to get, it's the "Information Age" So sleep depravation is a good/bad thing, and there is help for this disorder that is covered by most health insurances.
