It's easier scheduling those during holidays to ensure that more people can come - not having to schedule time off of work because you'll already have the time off for the holiday. Thats the reason I scheduled mine for New Years weekend.

I would take all that into consideration. Then I would tell my buddies to save me a spot on the camping canoe trip. Kiss my girlfriend on the cheek then climb in my car and head off to have a nice weekend of camping and canoing.

I would never, ever, EVER schedule something like that for a weekend when next-to NOBODY really wants to be there. Since it's your girlfriend's sister's wedding, I'd go if it's important to your girlfriend.

I would go. I'd be bummed about missing the annual trip, but if she is important to you go. Take your rig along who knows maybe you can disappear for a few hours to a DZ that might be near by. Tell her its mental therapy.
