For me I just have a frame mounted hitch and a Ranch Hand rear bumper for protection against tail gaters. If only I had the money for a front end replacement...those things are fucking bullet proof!http://www.ranchhand.com/frontbumperreplacements.htm Yeah, but the Hensley is a receiver type, and I believe the Reese is, too... don't recall at the moment.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Amazon 7 #27 May 17, 2005 QuoteI'm not so much worried about gas mileage as I am getting something that will haul a 34Ft PIMP trailer. Then get SOMETHING with a diesel... better milage and a hell of a lot better towing somethign that size... I tow a 25' boat that weighs about 7500 pounds and still get over 17 MPG.. not towing.. 21 MPG..overall average with the Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 AND I can accelerate going uphill on US2 over Stevens PASS.....passing slow ass people in lesser vehicles
Bolas 5 #28 May 17, 2005 I had a 2002 1500 Z71. Nice truck but when I towed my 4000 lb 19" trailer it would be a dog on hills (It was rated for 7500lbs) Your options are limited for trailers too. No 5th wheels and no truck campers either. You have to keep the bed covered, mine had a small problem with leaking into the passenger compartment even when covered sometimes I say buy a full size RV and tow an Escalade EXT if you wanna be a true pimp playa. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
freeflir29 0 #29 May 17, 2005 Yeah yeah yeah..............let me go look at the Dodge and Fords too. BTW...........they RATE the 2500 Avalanche for 12,000 lbs tow weight. QuoteMaybe you wanna drive those bad boys to Lake Whales the 1 and 4th of July. Sorry.............won't be home until August. QuoteI can accelerate going uphill on US2 over Stevens PASS.....passing slow ass people in lesser vehicles Well..............the BIG BLOCK 8100 V-8 has 320 HP and 440 Lb-Ft of torque. That's certainly no slouch.
jumpwally 0 #30 May 17, 2005 The biggest question is how often do you plan to tow? If its alot then you should rethink it...but if its half a dozen times a year or less you will hate yourself for dealing with an ass pounding ride.smile, be nice, enjoy life FB # - 1083

Truck choice or bumper choice or what? I have a 1/2 ton PU, I don't tow that often although I use the bed for hauling fairly often. If its the suspension of a 3/4 or full ton, then put airbags on it and adjust as needed.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
