Conundrum 1 #1 May 16, 2005 I've never taken it and my dentist prescribed it to me for the pain in my jaw (wisdom tooth infection). What should I expect? /end stupid question
BartsDaddy 7 #2 May 16, 2005 double the dosage and add a six pack of beer then they are OK. Other then that they never did much for me. Handguns are only used to fight your way to a good rifle
Sebazz1 2 #3 May 16, 2005 Say hi to the pink and purple elephants for me! I miss them... haha just kiddin... I have taken Vicoden just a few times, one of them being for my wisdon teeth removal. The vicoden subdued the pain a little but did not have any other affects I was aware of. Maybe they affect me less or differently than others and basically thought of it as a strong advil... AggieDave 6 #4 May 16, 2005 Vicodin puts me on my ass. Besure to eat (if you're supposed to) or you might get an upset stomach. Even then I would still sometimes have an upset stomach. Basically I don't like taking them, even when I have to (like after my surgery) since it puts me in this weird haze and pretty much ruins my ability to concentrate. It does do a serious number on pain though.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
skybytch 273 #5 May 16, 2005 Expect to feel a bit loopy. It never kills the pain for me, just dulls it a bit and makes me not care quite as much. Be sure to eat something with it - I know that's hard to do with mouth pain but it's really important. And don't exceed the dosages on the bottle. I did that once and paid for it, on my knees in front of the toilet.
josheezammit 0 #6 May 16, 2005 it'll fuck you up, like, like.....vicodin, I had some when my sister chopped of my finger and then they reattached it, it made me straight pass out and for the record me and aggiedave are both like over 6 feet tall and over 220 pounds each Ahh, what a wonderful world. sunshine 2 #7 May 16, 2005 The first few days with Vicodin, it works well to dull pain and give me some rest. After about 3 days taking it, it doesn't really work anymore. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! lawrocket 3 #8 May 16, 2005 Vicodin scared me. When I took it after my sinus surgery, my head still hurt like hell. I just didn't care if it hurt or not. It didn't bother me. Scary stuff.. My wife is hotter than your wife.

freefalle 0 #10 May 16, 2005 see PM. In addition Vicodin has been know to cause constipation in some patients, be aware of that. The key is to stay ahead of you pain for a few days, take the pain meds before you start to hurt, but take them in your prescribed time/dosage

kristenmichie 0 #12 May 16, 2005 I took vicodin when I got my wisdom teeth pulled, and it did very little. I had dry sockets that hurt pretty intensely. If anything it lessened the pain a bit, but no other effects. I was taking about 750mg every 4 hours. If the pain is pretty bad, you should be fine. Now taking lots of vicodin without pain + drinking or whatever, you'll notice some changes... We're here for a good time, not a long time.
idlewild70 0 #13 May 16, 2005 everyone is different. vicodin did nothing for me. heck, when i dislocated my shoulder, they gave me morphine, and all that did was get rid of my headache.-Fish Blue skies, Soft landings
tdog 0 #14 May 16, 2005 Well, when I had surgery - it did not kill the pain, but just knocked me out so I did not care about the pain. They stitched the wound open so the infection could work its way out as it scared over. The doctor told me to take up to X amount, but start slow... Well, the pain was so bad I tried to start slow... About an hour passed and I could not take it... Then, well, I went for the gold and maxed out... Woke up every 8 hours and "repeated" until the pain went down. Fun times.... f1freak 0 #16 May 16, 2005 Depends on the dosage..... It works great when prescribed correctly or well at least at a high dose..... I was on percoset for a few months(GOOD STUFF) and then the doc put me on vicodin. It works great but you'll build a tolerance very fast..... use it for what it's for..... feel no pain......HAVE FUN... ...JUST DONT DIE

It is not as good once the pain kicks in and you have to fight it back. Boy can it constipate you. I followed the dentist's instructions exactly on cold packs to keep the swelling down, medication/food on the appointed time, and salt water rinses for dry socket. (it's easier to exceed this limit than you think, been there) it's a lousy pain killer, but an excellent mood enhancer. so save the pills for recreational use and take tylenol for the pain. haha
 Prev 1 2 Next Page 1 of 2 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
