GrumpySmurf 0 #1 May 23, 2005 Got to go from my little 65hp 620 cc 2 cylinder/2 valve to trying out one of these beasties yesterday on the country roads of Wisconsin. All I can say is WOW! ...like serious WOW! When you think it couldn't give you more, it does so, and then some. Temptation is a terrible thing.
Conundrum 1 #2 May 23, 2005 The new GSX-R 1000 is a thing of beauty indeed; they are incredible machines. I was between that and my GSX-R 600 and decided to go with the 600 simply because of the price difference and well, I just don't see a need for that much power on the street. Lindsey 0 #3 May 23, 2005 I can't even imagine..... I do enjoy thumpin' along at my laid-back pace, but in a few years I bet I'll add some sort of sport bike to my "collection." What 650 do you ride? Peace~ linz-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. A liberal is just a conservative who's been to jail
osuskydiver 0 #4 May 23, 2005 I used to think the same thing about all that power on the street. I Was happy riding around on my R6 but then I decided to go all out and get the R1 and I have never regretted it. My 2004 R1 is my dream bike and I love it!!!!!! By the time you read this you have already read it.

Honestly- no Sport Bike can be used to it's full potential on the street. I owned an R6 (my first bike)- after riding it conservativley for about a month, I decided to see how fast one could go in 1st gear before redlining the RPM's (at 11,000 if I remember correctly)- I made it to 68 MPH at around 9000 RPM's. When you realize that- you realize that 2nd- 6th gear are just meant to conserve gas and make a smoother ride. Even cruising at 75 MPH, you really wouldnt have to come out of 4th (and thats a pretty slow speed for 4th gear). The sole intention, is learning to fly.Condition grounded, but determined to try. Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies.Tongue tied and twisted, just an Earth bound misfit. mx757 4 #8 May 24, 2005 my roommate has a 2004 Honda CBR1000RR he rides it on street, but he'll also race it. it takes him 2 days just to take strret stuff off and add race faring etc to it. he's been racing them for about 10 years now.. he won't race it on street like lot of other sport bike riders will.. he has 1995 CBR900RR too that he's selling..
