Do I really need a PD-R 160?

Recommended Posts

Ok, here's the deal. I just bought a PD-R 160, and I haven't had it put into my rig yet.

I'm supposed to be going to tunnel camp at the end of June, but I need to save $500 between now and then. (Credit is not an option).

Sooooo . . . I can either sell my beautiful, new, bright white reserve, or stop jumping and having fun through the end of June.

The third, more slimy option is to sell my old Firelite reserve for about 1/2 of the amount that I need to save up, but I told this newer jumper on the DZ that if she wanted it, she could make payments on it. I don't have such a problem with keeping it for myself, but I would feel bad if I sold it out from under her, without giving her a chance to do what I offered.

Thoughts? Any input outside of the poll options is more than welcome. Thanks!

Whatever you do, don't go back on your word.

Exactly and you may have led your friend to believe during your conversations that you were going to help with the reserve andthat it was hers.

Without your word, you have nothing.

Ask her if she is still expecting to make payments on the reserve. If she says yes, I think you need to honor your discussion.

I really don't have anything else. My rig is worth more than my car. [:/] It's by far the most valuable thing I own.

Maybe I'll just rob a bank. :D So, if you see video of a 5'2" woman robbing a bank in Atlanta, it, uh . . . wasn't me. :D

Oh, alright.

Yea! B|

Look at it another way, it feels great when you can help out a newbie. One of the best aspects of this sport is the way people pass down ideas, information and equipment to others. You done good. Besides, not jumping for only a month isn't so bad. I'll be out 6, I'd love to be in your shoes!

Ok, now I'm brainstorming.

The girl doesn't have a container yet, and she won't until AT LEAST after tunnel camp.

What if I sell my PD-R now, and then after tunnel camp, I BUY her a reserve equivalent to my old (well, current) one and let her pay me in payments?

Me personally, I'd keep the PD reserve. Sure, you might never even need to jump it, but if you do need to use your reserve, which would you rather fly and land?

Also, if you turn around and sell a new reserve, you're going to lose money on it.

Keep the PDR, talk to the girl who is buying your firelite and tell her youre in a situation where you need the money for it. Maybe she can work out a way to pay for it up front. If she really can't, then stick with the original plan for payments.
Never hurts to ask.

Never mind. Problem solved. B|

Sometimes DZ.commers drive me up the wall (read: SC), but man, at other times . . . WOW. The generosity of other people can be astounding at times. :)
And I will most definitely "pay it forward" by helping the newbie out in getting her gear. :)
