How are they going to bring him back into action next season, after that ending?

That Vice President is such a wimp. His response to the Chinese should have been:

"Yeah, we broke into your damn embassy and kidnapped your man. That was only after you refused to let us have him, knowing that he was the key to stopping a nuclear bomb. And by taking him by force, the information we received led to the interception of the nuclear missile and saved millions of lives. Those are lives that would have been lost if we had let you have your way. So I'm glad we broke in and took him, and there's no way in hell I'm turning Jack Bauer over to your thugs. So what the hell are you gonna do about it?"

Renegotiate his contract? I figure something along those lines has to be why they ended it like that. In any case, he's pretty easy to bring back. The two dead secret service agents who were killed trying to pick up the CTU guy provide "eye for an eye" to shush the Chinese, and David can most likely take the VP-turned-Prez down. Of course we've got to see that terrorist chick have a bigger role next season, just like the gal who got pardoned a couple years ago and then came back in a bigger role the next year...except this time it'll be "third time's a charm", since she was in the final 5 minutes of season 2.

All in all, as frustrating as the ending was, it was a fantastic season.

I just realized that you guys must be a few episodes ahead of me and I almost read the post above this which would have been a spoiler. Whew. Now what happens when I leave here and the season isn´t over but it´s over in the States...damnit!

That terrorist chick is Mandy and she's been on every season but the third. She opened season one and ended season 2. I'm sure she'll be back.

Although I really didn't like the whole Chinese embassy storyline(I'm with John Rich- F*ck YOU! You can't have him! You were harboring a terrorist and if Jack hadn't gotten him, the embassy would have been nuked with the rest of LA!)- I STILL liked the ending. I liked that Jack, Tony, Michelle, Cloe and even Palmer all worked together and found the only possible solution at the time. Jack walking off into the sunrise, alone but not broken, seemed fitting. At least the writers let Tony and Michelle have a happy ending. Maybe one day Jack wil have one too.

Somehow I missed getting in on this show before this year. But it really hooked me this season, and I became an addict.

I didn't see the ending as frustrating. It tied up a lot of loose ends. They finally got that damned Marwan. I was getting sick and tired of him escaping every week. They stopped the nuke. Tony survived being hostage of that cold-hearted terrorist bitch. All in all, wrapping things up nicely, I thought.

The only frustration was that Jack couldn't walk off into the sunset with Audrey.

Hey, who else thinks that Chloe and Edgar are gonna fall in love. I think they're growing fond of each other....

The frustrating part for me was the loose ends they didn't tie up, even though I know that's just how to get us to tune in next year.

Did the terrorist chick go free? Do we "officially" know about the dead SS agents? Was the CTU agent released by China? What will happen in the whole China aspect? How will we get rid of this ditz of a President without deferring to the speaker of the house? etc, etc...

Don't get me wrong, I really liked the ending. It just left me wanting more.

As for Chloe & Edgar...I couldn't believe Edgar didn't turn into a bad guy towards the end. He took way too much punishment not to. I still suspect he will, perhaps next year (or he'll quit as a result of the punishment and loss of his mom and be simply written out of next season).

Also, what about the defense contractors? They black out a good portion of LA and send an army of mercenaries to get back a piece of paper that proves they were selling arms to terrorists. Paul is shot in the process, they never get their paper back, so what happened with them?

I love 24 but there's always a couple of major (or potentially major) plotlines that are dropped.

Oh, and don't count on them ever getting back to those dropped storylines either, although they love to bring back the good villains, so we'll see Mandy again!
