jumpinfarmer 0 #1 May 25, 2005 President Bush was in Rochester today and I was right acrost the street from the air port when he left town. I got to see Air Force One take off. I know that thats not much of a thrill but I was kind of excited about it.

Air Force One lands at the ANG base right next to our hub in Memphis, so i have seen it several times - always escorted by BlackHawks and F-18s....notice any choppers as it was taking off? As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
pilotdave 0 #4 May 25, 2005 I saw marine one today. Well not officially since the pres wasn't onboard. And it was only an engine inlet being repaired. But close enough... Dave

jimmytavino 16 #7 May 25, 2005 good deal j-farmer..... We were following the local news which covered the visit and speech at a local High School... My children and I saw on the TV that Air Force One was about to take off... so I went and opened a window and told my kids,,,, "we should be able to HEAR that plane shortly after it clears the runway".. hahahah the kids laughed at me and replied,,,"Dad that airport is 15 miles away,,,, to our south..and west.."... I said,, ' yes but the wind is outta the North east, so they will take off heading right at us.... " Sure enough 10 or 15 seconds after the TV showed the plane rotating,, we COULD hear it... Though the ceiling was low,,, so we couldn't see it...but the ROAR was unmistakable.... THEN I did hear what sounded like fighter jets, ( I HAVE seen the Blue angels once or twice,,, so I remembered what THEY sound like.).. and then the noise faded away as the Big Boeing turned south and headed away...cool... ..never did SEE it though.. ...... The evening before..... I WAS driving past the airport on a local expressway... and I saw a 4 engine C -17 sitting on the ramp..... I guessed correctly that this aircraft was likely carrying the entire presidential motorcade which would be used on tuesday to run the Pres.. from the airport tarmac to the School Auditorium, and back.... 2 big limos,,, a number of support vehicles, and yes.. there were choppers in the air leading the motorcade up the highway today.... A couple of protesters were arrested at the speech site,,,and the event was BIG news for a city like Rochester.... minute by minute news coverage,,, lots of chatter about it in the paper and on Tv... He flew in at 10:30 A M made his speech... and blew outta here at 12: 35........ Nice aircraft..... only I bet they'd NEVER let anybody skydive out of it !!! About fifteen minutes after he took off we saw a couple choppers leave. They both had presidential seals on them. As for the sucurity. I don't think I have ever seen so many cops as there was on Scottsville Rd this morning. They both landed near where I live at the Willow Grove NAS and I was told (if someone wants to weigh in here) that they have 2 planes land as protocol and the Pres. could be in either plane. How about that goofy escape pod in the movie 'Air Force One.' You're always the starter in your own life! No jumping from 1 to 4 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Like our little C-182 is a huge threat 25 miles away. It's bullsht. If they're that worried about him they should keep his ass in Washington.
