moodyskydiver 0 #1 May 26, 2005 I just got a call from my distressed mother. My dad called her alittle after 6pm to tell her that sometime around 3pm a tornado ripped across our 76 acre ranch. The list of damage is growing. After my last call a fraction of the damage included: uprooted trees, destroyed fencing, destroyed stud horse pen, all of the panneling off of our barn gone,it rolled both of our horse trailers, overtured a tack storage trailer the size of a cargo trailer truck and deposited it into our foal birthing pen, tore off roofing on my dad's shop and punched holes through the side of my parent's house. These are just some of the physical property damages. As far as I know, all 24 of the horses are accounted for. They are extremely spooked and shaken up to the point that they will not calm down enough to let my dad examine them closer for injuries. From casual observation 3 are obviously injured, mostly cuts and scrapes but one is limping and favoring a leg pretty bad. Luckily all the foals are uninjured. I'm worried about my parents. My mom is certainly emotionally high strung as this was her worst fear and she worries about the animals and now about all the upcoming weeks/months of repairs. I'm glad she was not home at the time.I'm worried about my dad because he was there in the house when the tornado hit.(Thank God hes ok).I know he will try to play it off and be tough for everyone else, but I know he needs someone too. God help them. I offered to pack a bag and come home to help tonight and cancel the engagement party that my friend's were throwing for me and my fiance but my mom said no.I offered to come in tomorrow too and she said to wait til the weekend. I feel so helpless sitting almost 200miles away and unable to help or be there for my parents.DAMNIT!!!!! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
