grue 1 #1 May 30, 2005 I swear to god, looking at the classifieds to try and find a rig, nobody that skydives is over 5'10" or 150lbs, making it damned hard to buy gear since I'm 6'3", 210lbs :P Thus, I poll!cavete terrae.
AggieDave 6 #2 May 30, 2005 I'm 5'8" and almost that tall too... Ha, ok, seriously, I'm 6'1" and 250lbs, I feel your gear pain...however, there are quite a few of us big boy skydivers out there. It just seems that no one our size ever sells their gear.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Yeah, I'm at the point where I'm considering saying "fuck it", ordering a brand new harness/container custom, and then buying used canopies, but I don't really want to go that route unless I absolutely have to, since as a college student, that'd mean going into serious debt for gear.cavete terrae. bob.dino 1 #4 May 30, 2005 6' 3", 180lbs. There's lots of tall skydivers, and a 190 that fits a 5' 10" -> 6' 2" person will sell really really quickly. You don't see many simply because they don't stay on the market long - they're snapped up!
AggieDave 6 #5 May 30, 2005 It took me a decent amount of time to pay off the CC that I first bought gear on...then again, I had 200 jumps and a D-license before I had my own gear (begged and borrowed and used Texas A&M University Skydiving Club's gear). Remember, if you can find something close, you can have a harness resized to fit you for just a couple hundred $$. If you find a rig you like, get the serial number and call the manufacture with your measurements, find out what it would cost to make it work for you.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #7 May 30, 2005 Quotewhy the hell did I not know that before? You never asked? Its one of those things that isn't necissarily mentioned all the time to students since it doesn't always pertain to them. I know that when students and low time jumpers come to me asking about gear I mention that, but I don't know to tell them if they don't ask.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." I'm 6'0, 180 lbs.

Just don't try to do that with my gear, man...my torso measurement was soooo short that Aerodyne asked me to re-measure. they thought I had made a mistake! -I think it's only something like 13" from my hip ring...~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
