Recommended Posts

I need a way to install windows 2000 onto my new HD on my Latitude LS500

I can hook up my lappie HD to my desk top if neccessary . .

I have already -
Formatted my new HD to NT
I have already copied the i386 folder to the new HD

but my lappie won't see it as a drive to boot from -

The BIOS detects it and says ewvrything is ducky . . .

sigh -

help/
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

Hahaha! Good luck....

Just kidding ;)

Laptops can be real problems to set windows up on.

One of the helpfull things that I have found is the cable that will allow you to plug your laptop hardrive into your desktop. Then you can intall the windows setup files on it and put it back in the laptop.

Do you have a floppy drive on the laptop? It's easier if you do. You can make W2k set up floppies, then tell it which harddrive contains the rest of the setup files.

Cheers

eeek, that sucks turtle.
assuming everything in your bios is setup as far as boot sequences go... can you get a command prompt? a will work -- c would be better... had any luck with either? or d?
what kind of software did dell include? i used to wipe my drives clean a few times a year (made me feel like i had a new system-- i dunno) anyway, once i chose to format a different way and it REALLY messed me... black screen- that's it! the only time i used a pc doc but i had no choice. did you format from their software or a drive orrrr.....?
i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
