turtlespeed 226 #1 June 2, 2005 I need a way to install windows 2000 onto my new HD on my Latitude LS500 I can hook up my lappie HD to my desk top if neccessary . . I have already - Formatted my new HD to NT I have already copied the i386 folder to the new HD but my lappie won't see it as a drive to boot from - The BIOS detects it and says ewvrything is ducky . . . sigh - help/I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Avion 0 #2 June 2, 2005 Hahaha! Good luck.... Just kidding Laptops can be real problems to set windows up on. One of the helpfull things that I have found is the cable that will allow you to plug your laptop hardrive into your desktop. Then you can intall the windows setup files on it and put it back in the laptop. Do you have a floppy drive on the laptop? It's easier if you do. You can make W2k set up floppies, then tell it which harddrive contains the rest of the setup files. Cheers

bob.dino 1 #7 June 3, 2005 There's a lot more to making a drive bootable than that. Easiest way: 1- Go into the BIOS and make sure laptop will boot from CD-ROM in preference to the hard disk. 2- Insert the Windows 2000 CD into the CD-ROM drive. 3- Reboot.
