I will be there! I don't think the Otter will be running, but the king air is fast to altitude!

:o Well tell them to get that Otter running cause Sprite's coming to jump!

Eh, no worries, coming from a Cessna DZ, I think the King Air will be fine. ;)

Ben!! Put it off a day and come out to the dz on Saturday!

So you just coming to visit for a while or something??? New to the DZ? If so, you can PM me for my contact info and I will introduce you to some of the people around the DZ and show ya around...

Oh, to make you feel at home, we have a Cessna too if you want to use it.:P

BTW... What altitude is your body used to, meaning how high do you live? The king air takes us to 12.5K - and add 5100 field elevation to that, and you have nearly 18,000 feet on jump run... Oxygen is available on the plane, but locals tend not to use it because they are used to it physically. But even then, I have felt hypoxic before - so know the signs and know oxygen is available if you need it!!! (I find slow deap breaths is all I need)

And - canopy's fly fast at our altitude, so be careful on the landing.... I have come "home" from sea level three times and each time was shocked at the difference.

Other than that, you will have a great time at Mile Hi... Nice people, great landing area, great views of the mountains, etc...

Skydive New Mexico is at about the same field elevation as Mile High, so that shouldn't be an issue. Where she might run into hypoxia problems is the fact that she isn't used to going all the way to 18,000. ;)

We get up to 10500 agl regularly and take our sweet time getting there, so we're used to spending time at about 16000. A brief stint at 18 shouldn't be a problem. Good to know there oxygen though.

Dear skysprite,

Thanks for the warm welcome. Sorry I'm so long in replying. Trying to juggle so much right now. Yes, I'm studying ASL and it's great to meet someone else with the same interest. My youngest (who just turned 3) was signing before he was a year old. He picked it up as I was teaching my older son (who is homeschooled). He has a deaf friend and so wanted to learn to communicate with him. I do know several signs, but I don't think I'm fluent. I would like to be some day and that would be awesome to communicate with hearing-impaired skydivers as well. Good luck with skydiving and signing.

Did you make it out there this weekend? I saw a girl with a New Mexico t-shirt on today. But I didn't put two and two together (plus I only saw this thread now). Otherwise I would have said hi at the DZ. My loss ... :(

Yeah, I was there, and that likely was me! Long sleeve black shirt with white New Mexico Lobos written on it, pants rolled up, in preparation to freefl...flailfly! :D Actually the best part of this weekend is I sprang a tandem jump on my sister! I told her she HAD to go, and she did it! I got to be on the load with her and she got to see me exit! She's totally hooked and will be starting student progression in July! B|

Guess what else! It looks like I'll be there next weekend for the boogie so you had better say hello to me then! :P:)
Thanks to everyone at Mile Hi! What a great dropzone with an awesome, friendly vibe! I'll be making weekend trips up there a lot! :)

Bring Grafico with you next weekend. I made it up on Friday for other reasons and didn't get a chance to make it on Saturday. Will be there for the boogie though...

Yes then that was you. I do remember seeing your sister do her tandem and seeing you packing you're rig. I will say hi next weekend if/when I see you there (wear another NM t-shirt). It was kind of a zoo today what with all the cancelled tandems from yesterday's rain out and only having one King Air. But next weekend should be easier to get on loads.
