rwieder 0 #1 June 5, 2005 This morning i had full intentions of going skydiving and trying out my new sky diving helmet i bought from Steve Phelps. I worked really hard putting the helmet together to fit my camera. I was stoked about going to sky dive aggieland today and trying it out! my son, Jonathan, and his wife, Ann came down last night with my 10 month old grandson J.G. (Jonathan Gregory) We went to bed early last night to get plenty of rest for the day today. We get up early this morning and my wife's boss calls me up and says "Hey richard, i've got a 2004 450 CC Honda dirt bike in my garage that's really getting on my nerves, can you come and get it?" No Freaking Problem! So, my son Jonathan & i go out on this adventure to retrieve the "Free" honda dirt bike, we load it up in the back of my BRAND NEW 3 WEEK OLD 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, load it up and drive it home to Giddings. Well, the bike hadn't been started in over 6 months, so we get it home, crank it (finally) and i drive it around the hay pasture. MAN itwas FUN riding this bad dog with the front wheel in the air through 5th gear (just like old times) i haven't ridden a dirt bike for over 13 years. I take the bike for a "SPIN" had LOADS of fun! I ride the bike back to the house and turn it over to Jonathan. What insued after this is incredibly outragous! i told him "Son, be careful she's got loads of power and the front wheel comes up really easy! next thing i know he gasses it, lets out the clutch and the fucking thing popped a whellie from HELL and crashed into the front of my BRAND NEW CHEVROLET LT SILVERADO, about $3,000.00 worth of damage. Damage to my son: Emergency room visit. Damage to the dirt bike $0.00 Damage to my BRAND NEW TRUCK: $3,000.00 + I know this sounds incredible, because it is, but i've got .jpegs.......too bad, no video or i'd be a millionarre! You Know: David Letterman, "Stupid Human Tricks" Good News, no injury to my son, who has just returned from IRAQ! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

rwieder 0 #5 June 5, 2005 QuoteWell at least he didn´t want to test out your camera helmet at the same time...glad he is ok, sorry about the truck! I'm glad i wasn't testing the helmet cam at the time or i would have been seriously injured. I'm still in disbelief! i can't believe the whole thing happened. It ruined my plans for the whole day. BUT....my sons OK, that's ALL that matters.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

rwieder 0 #7 June 5, 2005 QuoteOuch, had your son ever ridden a dirtbike before? Well...........here's where it gets complicated. His wife (my daufgter-in-law) and his mother (my wife) are BOTH blaming me for the whole incident. To answer your question....NO. He has never driven a dirt bike. BUT....when he was young and growing up i bought him numerous three whellers and four wheelers, so i thought "No Big Deal?!" Right? WRONG......BIG DEAL. After much after thought, i would have never allowed this until some coaching from a professional. I took it for "Granted" he could handle a high powered dirt bike, i was wrong. Even though he did slam into my brand new truck, i am glad he's o.k. It would be a BITCH to survive Iraq, only to come home and be killed by an accident like this. I take full responsability. moral of the story: "Just when you think you've seen it all" You really haven't. This could have been tragic for both of us. Thank God It Wasn't.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
justaflygirl 0 #8 June 5, 2005 OMG! Im glad your son is okay, that is most important...but damnI cringed when I read about your truck... I would have been sick....
rwieder 0 #9 June 5, 2005 Quotebut damn! cringed when I read about your truck... I would have been sick.... Oh....believe me, i'm pretty sick about it. The truck isn't even 3 weeks old. BUT, Jonathan is allright. I can fix the vehichle easier and quicker than i can fix him had he been injured. But that said, i really wished i would have videoed the incident, the look on Jonathan's face when i started screaming "You just ran into my brand new f#@%^ng truck!" which was bad because i was instantly more worried about the truck than Jonathan. For which i felt very bad about later. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

I just tried riding a racing dirtbike a few days ago and managed to only fall over once! Guess I'm not ready to pop a wheelie over logs Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...
