hottamaly 1 #1 June 7, 2005 This pic is a missing man formation fly by at Texas A & M (or so I was told). I thought I'd share. It's a cool pic. AggieDave 6 #4 June 7, 2005 Let me guess, its this pic, right? It is a missing man formation fly by at Texas A&M over Kyle Field. All the pilots are Aggies and this was the t.u. game in 1999. The missing man formation was in response to the collapse of Bonfire and the death of 12 Aggies (including Scott West) just prior to this game. If you look at the brownish spot on first deck of the right side in the upper corner (north corner), that's where the Corps of Cadets stands for the games. Although, I was on the field having just raised the Texas and the main American flag as part of the Color Guard. In this picture the main flag poles are directly behind the pilot's head on the corner of the field. It was quite spectacular, it seemed the F-16 climbed damned near forever. That was an incredibly emotional time and an incredibly emotional game, the fly-by actually brought tears to my eyes.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #8 June 7, 2005 Quote I do believe that is Photo shopped... Did you read my post? I was there. That really happened and the pic is real.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
kelel01 1 #9 June 7, 2005 I read your post, and I believe it happened . . . but that pic REALLY doesn't look real.
AggieDave 6 #10 June 7, 2005 Ok, look at the stands, see how full they are and everyone in maroon? That was the first game for the seating to be fully open like that, with over 90% of the stands in maroon and for the south endzone to have have bleachers setup as well. Not only that but there is nothing in the direction of where this picture was taken to have taken the picture. The picture had to be taken right before the game (by looking at whats on the track around the field) and the fact that the Corp of Cadets Review-Stand (for the VIPs to be in to review the Corps during the march in before the game) is still on the track and that's removed right before kick off (or atleast it used to be, for instance the year this pic was taken). All in all it would be impossible to recreate all of the aspects of the photo unless you spent a LOT of time and had many stock photos of Kyle field from this angle. Believe it if you want or not, but its real. If not, then its been passed around the world as real for the past 5 years, it came about right after the game (the next day or so). So if it *is* PSed, then its a good one and where the fuck did they get the stock photo?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Shark 0 #11 June 7, 2005 AD, I believe your avatar is not really a representation of you and is most likely Photoshop'd.
kelel01 1 #12 June 7, 2005 Jebus . . . never mind. God forbid someone think that there might be a false representation of an actual event out there. Anyone remember the pic of the guy standing on top of one of the Twin Towers as the first plane flew into the other building? 'Cause that one wasn't real, and it looked a lot moreso. And Snopes has their doubts, just FYI. It's real . . . fine. Not that I care. Either way, it's very nice that a missing man formation was done for the lost lives. Those do always choke me up. Can you see why I'm a little touchy over folks calling me out as lying about this? Its something that is very dear to my heart and is something that effected my life very very dramatically. Do a search about Texas A&M Bonfire and see what I've written about in the past. Basically my life is VERY VERY different now then it would have been if that tragedy hadn't happened.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." He doesn't really have a beard, plus he has this whole Raccoon thing going with him tan lines. Yup i say PS. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you. kelel01 1 #15 June 7, 2005 Again, I don't think YOU'RE lying. I have no doubt that this event took place . . . just that this is an actual photo of it. And yes, I'm very aware of how much of an effect this had on you. And I was in college then, too, and it made MANY of us around the country stop and think about how it could happen to any of us. Shark 0 #16 June 7, 2005 Kelly, I was kidding, however I doubt there was any deliberate misrepresentation intended; Photoshopping AD's grill on a movie star is. Shark out.

Yup i say PS.LaughTongueLaugh I'll give you the raccoon tan lines, but come on, I've got a couple day old beard going on right now...I shave for interviews. I had to clean up the full on lobo-the-wolfman thing I had going on when I started talking to recruiters and such. Beerlight 0 #21 June 7, 2005 There is no doubt this event happened. Not what I said. I said the "pic" was PS'd. That's all...... I could call some of my Air Force buds and find out for ya... I still have connections.. and I own the same flight gear they are flying with... although I retired mine recently....

panzwami 0 #24 June 7, 2005 Military pilots correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't #3 (the one second from the left in that photo) be the one climbing out of the group for the Missing Man?
larsrulz 0 #25 June 7, 2005 The F-16 canopy is a one piece, i.e. no supports, so that isn't the problem. Most likely a very real picture of a missing man formation, but this particular picture is PSed....sorry. First of all, the picture of the stadium is the *exact* some one as from here. Also, look closely and you'll see the shadow of the vertical stabalizer is to the left of the picture, while the shadow on the stadium is to the right. I got a strong urge to fly, but I got no where to fly to. -PF
