grue 1 #1 June 9, 2005 Got a few jumps in today, and yowza was it different. First jump of the day contained the following firsts: First jump on a weekday First full altitude jump First jump with BOC instead of leg throwout First barrel roll (whee!) First time understanding how to spot! Second jump was fun, too... my first jump with earplugs, the ride up was so quiet I fell asleep, and when the instructor tapped my leg to wake me up, the pilot looked at me and asked if I'd ever floated before. When I replied with "no?", he pulled up and went parabolic for us, giving us a couple seconds of zero gravity, wheeee.... when the time came to jump, it was.... my introduction to the back loop! My first one was kinda "meh" by my standards, since I was about 45° off when I came out of it, but I nailed the next two :D Then, to make the dive even better, I landed 5 small steps from the red jumpsuit I put in the student landing area to start working on my accuracy The fun didn't end there, though. When the time came to pay for my jumps, it turns out the CC reader wasn't working, and hadn't been for a while, so I fixed it. Then I realised that my good deed meant I had to actually pay for my jumps Then, on the last load of the day, a sunset load, a student lost altitude awareness in a freefall spin, and didn't throw his PC until WELL under 2000', and the Cypres fired as he got under his main. Some of the instructors thought his reserve stayed in the freebag because it was a low-speed deployment (he landed safely a ways out, so it was hard to tell), but yours truly with his EAGLE EYES spotted the falling equipment and noted the location, and lead the search in the darkness, and was even the one to find it, right where I said it'd be Good times, with a little drama, but in the end, all was good!cavete terrae.
