skybytch 273 #1 June 10, 2005 Jimmy Lestelle lived and worked in the industrial unit next to the dropzone in Paso Robles. Because he had only one eye he had a bit of a problem with turning in freefall. Once he solved that problem he bought gear - including a main that I tried to talk him out of. Shortly after getting the rig set up he landed without flaring and broke himself pretty good. Some years later his kidneys failed (which I've learned is not unusual for diabetics) and his health went rapidly downhill. A few weeks ago he had a massive heart attack and died while undergoing dialysis. He wasn't even 50 years old yet. Milt Burton lived a couple hours drive from Paso. He'd come up to do tandems or other student jumps, and to play in the sky with us. He was on one of the jumps that sticks in my memory - a demo over Morro Bay, California. I did a few CRW jumps with him too. I last saw him at Perris a few years ago and got a big hug. He died last week in the plane crash in Costa Rica. They are both a part of so many of my memories of the dz I'll always consider "home." Fly free, my friends.
