BRYANGOESBOOM 0 #2 June 11, 2005 screw that that would be giving up something i love cuz i would be 2 broke to skydive and do something i hate for a living + most packers at my dz started off as skydivers and now have no desire to jump anymore Not only will you look better, feel better, and fuck better; you'll have significantly increased your life expectancy. --Douva
Squeak 17 #3 June 11, 2005 Quotescrew that that would be giving up something i love cuz i would be 2 broke to skydive and do something i hate for a living + most packers at my dz started off as skydivers and now have no desire to jump anymore On some of the bigger DZs you can make a very good wage packing, and still jump quite a bit. Although not on any DZ in OzYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? skybytch 273 #6 June 13, 2005 Speaking as someone who cut away from the real world at less than 200 jumps.... don't quit your day job just yet if you won't be working at a busy dz.

nerd137 0 #10 June 13, 2005 I guess I'd just prefer telling it like it is (or would be, if I were to do something like that): "I quit my day job so I could skydive more." -or- "I sold all my shit and so that I can buy an RV, live at the DZ, pack for money, and skydive as much as possible." nerd137 0 #11 June 13, 2005 QuoteI'm thinking about cutting away and becoming a dz bum/packer good idea or bad idea? I should probably actually respond to this instead of sidetracking the topic into a discussion of the semantics of "cutting away." I wouldn't do it. But that's just me. I need my current job to support all my expensive lusts.
 kelel01 1 #12 June 13, 2005 So 10 or 26 words said to accomplish that which could have been said in 3. "I'm cutting away." Now granted, it does have a certain cheesy movie feel about it, but it's all in how you say it. If someone says, "I'm cutting away" isn't the very first question you're gonna ask in response gonna be, "Really? What exactly do you mean by that?" It could mean quitting a job to be a packer, it could mean selling your house and/or car, it could mean all of the above... And that's on top of the colossal and inescapable cheesiness of the 3 word phrase.
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
