grue 1 #1 June 13, 2005 I did my first completely unassisted pack job today, and as I was finishing it, what comes on the radio? "Don't Fear The Reaper", by Blue Oyster Cult (BOC! Just noticed the ironic abbreviation). The jump went fine, as did the next one, so I'm good, right? Or am I being warned well in advance? cavete terrae. KevinMcGuire 0 #2 June 13, 2005 Don't sweat it. When it's your time you will be directed to that place you need to be so just enjoy it while you can. Like the song says Don't fear the reaper

NWFlyer 2 #4 June 13, 2005 Pack jobs always need more cowbell."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
JohnMitchell 16 #5 June 13, 2005 I saw them in concert a hundred years ago. "Take my hand, you'll be able to fly, Don't fear the reaper . . . " Yeah, good song to pack to. Like the BOC conection. What band has the initials PUD?
ACMESkydiver 0 #6 June 13, 2005 I was waiting to post this until I read that you jumped it & nothing happened... My first pack job was also my cut away. I did a few things wrong on that, so who knows if it was the packing, the high-speed deployment (fuggin' OUUUUCH!!!!!! Slow down before just throwin' out on a hybrid jump, Jaye!!) or opening in a track. <---stupid bunny! Learn to fly right! Hybrid & going stupid-fast. Break off. Bunny tracks 2 seconds. Throw out. BOOM (ouch) spinning spinning spinning tension knot up high.... "Ohhhhh sh*t." Choppity-chop, and I'm landing a reserve. Suffice to say I NEVER did that again!!! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
Skolls081102 0 #7 June 13, 2005 QuotePack jobs always need more cowbell. Damn- another newbie question from me- cowbells? I'm confused, Anyone care to explain? The sole intention, is learning to fly.Condition grounded, but determined to try. Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies.Tongue tied and twisted, just an Earth bound misfit. Rebecca 0 #13 June 13, 2005 And all this time I had no idea what the damned cowbell thing was about... you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
kelel01 1 #14 June 13, 2005 Rebecca, I think we need to talk. Recently I haven't been feeling our psychic connection. Come back to me, sister! Harness the power of the cowbell and come home. Sincerely, Kelly
ACMESkydiver 0 #15 June 13, 2005 QuoteYou were doing a hybrid on your first packjob? Did you have a really fast jump progression , or a really slow packing progression? -The latter... This was a licensed jump...my first licensed jump, as a matter of fact. And I had packed before, I just hadn't jumped one of my own unsupervised pack jobs. -Yes you're right though, I was a v-e-r-y slow learner on packing, and as a matter of fact I still kinda suck at it (speed wise). ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
