freeflir29 0 #5 June 14, 2005 Just a short lay off until you could get your own gear? Welcome back.......I haven't exited an aircraft in flight in about 2 months now. Starting to get a twitch. Only 45 days or so left!
mdrejhon 8 #6 June 14, 2005 QuoteNew Mexico sure looks pretty from 5 grand ! shall Your profile says 284 jumps in 6 years....But you said first jump in 22 years? Profile in error?
wmw999 2,589 #7 June 14, 2005 Nope. There are people who quit jumping for years. I had 1000 jumps in 1984, 1100 in 1988, and 1100 in 2001. Tink1717 2 #8 June 14, 2005 But the profile should read more than 6 years then.Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... shall555 0 #9 June 14, 2005 Well, I didn't want it to sound like I had been a hard-core jumper for nearly 29 years. I started in '76 and was active for 4 years, took a couple of years off, then jumped for 2 years before going on to other things. It'd be a joke to say I had 29 years in the sport ! It'd be a joke to say I had 29 years in the sport ! i agree. by that logic, i have 31 years in the sport. my first jump was in 1974 under a round, on a static line. didn't get back in the sky until 2001 when we finally had these sport can-o-peas. i talked about this passion for 26 years until my friends finally told me to shut the hell up and bought me a tandem. the rest is history... i'll be passing 1,000 this weekend. wmw999 2,589 #11 June 14, 2005 I agree too. While my profile says all 30 years, I've only been jumping for 17 of those. But I was subscribing to & reading Parachutist, checking into rec.skydiving regularly (beginning before it got stupid), had my gear, and kept up with friends. And even for me it's doubtful.
