Ummmm...this looks odd!

That's an awful lot of activity. Are there maps from earlier this year? That would help define whether or not this is unusual activity.

The maps don't do much good because there are so many, but I found a database that allowed me to query for the period 6/16/1999 through 6/16/2005.

What is interesting is that October of 1999 there were 33 times as many earthquakes on average as the rest of the months.

Although this indicates a declining number of earthquakes since 1999, 2005 may indicate the first increase over a prior year since 1999.

Blue skies,

Jim

just so y'all know, California can NOT fall into the Pacific Ocean. California is thicker than the ocean is deep.

Californis is sliding laterally south.

Oh don't say "Can't" and make 'er feel like you're challenging 'er. lol. Earth breaks, Earth changes shape.

Once a little more... say "physically independent" from the rest of the continent, we'll have to see how structurally sound that thickness (meaning 'tallness' really) is. I've not thought I'd see 'er sink... but she's definitely breaking off soon IMO.
