Oh well, if he's out at the casino with a hooker getting drunk, at least I hope he's betting on the hard 6's... daniel_owen_uk 0 #28 June 21, 2005 Problem with ebay is it's not a real auction, in terms of you don't say how much then someone returns with a higher bid, instead you put the max you are willing to pay. This means that if someone ups the bid, but is still below you maximum, you are gonna have to pay more. Either except that or don't use ebay. Still I would be pissed if I got sniped.__________________ BOOM Headshot
freeflir29 0 #29 June 21, 2005 Ebay isn't all bad. My sister just got a GREAT deal on a Cessna 310. If it passes inspection she should be flying it through the skies of Southern CA soon.
wildblue 7 #30 June 21, 2005 I always check overstock.com's auction section first. You can't snip there - if there's a new high-bid, the auction goes for 10 more minutes. I'm glad somebody understands that it's annoying, and not a sport QuoteWhy is Overstock.com Auctions preventing sniping? We are preventing sniping to make the online auction experience stress-free and fair for everyone. Auctions will not close until everyone involved has been given a chance to evaluate the current high bid, and decide whether or not they would like to continue bidding.it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality
flyingferret 0 #31 June 21, 2005 I 100% agree. I used to do it....you can do it without a service, although it is mroe difficult know with multi windows. But, I used to run 3-4 windows open each with different max bids, and submit within the last 20 seconds. Ebay used to be easy because only a few people (relatively speaking) were on there. It is not that way now, and its supply and demand curve is closer to the retail market. Trust me, Ebay gotten more annoying, BUT they has also gotten better about killing false user accounts and getting rid of fraud. That alone is HUGE undertaking to monitor. Regardless, they have changed their policy several times, and I guarantee you that they follow it. Additionally, they make a lot of money from people that sell hundreds or thousands of items a month, not from one person who is unhappy because there could have been a cheaper way. Additionally, ebay will automagically bump your bid to meet a reserve when the auction ends. Regardless of my opinion...simple solution, just like any other store...if you don't like it, don't shop there. You went to ebay trying to beat retail price, and you did. IF you think you can beat the ebay way, go patronize that business model. Personally, ebay is more annoying as a seller than a buyer, watching out for all the people trying to rip you off, but it beats classified ads. So, you take the good with the bad.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

ChrisL 2 #33 June 21, 2005 Ebay states that they dont display all bids that are made via auto bidding. I just sold a guitar at auction and when I placed the ad, it specifically states that auto bids are bot displayed__ My mighty steed
